Rising Stars: Meet Taniya Wilson of Westwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taniya Wilson.

Hi Taniya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a young girl growing up in the enter city. My parents did not have access or the money to after school program for the extra help needed for my education. That experience stayed with me and became my motivation to create something different for other children. What started as private tutoring and small group sessions grew into a full learning center. Knowing there are many ways to learn, and build confidence through teaching. I wanted to creating a safe, inspiring environment where every child feels valued and extraordinary.

I foundered BE EXTRAORDINARY EDUCATION CENTER, a learning center dedicated to creating ways to advancing the intellectual, emotional, and creative growth of young children. I dedicated countless hours of studying and research to provide children with the tools they need to succeed both academically and socially. With over 20 years of experience and a degree in early childhood education. I’m committed to innovative and creative approaches to education.

On my journey of passion, persistence, and purpose. I started small with a few students and a big dream. Through word of
mouth, community support, and dedication, Be Extraordinary Education Center has grown into a place families trust.

My goal is to give children the kind of educational opportunity I wish I had, and to help them believe in themselves and their potential. No matter their background or family income.

Every challenge taught me something valuable about leadership, patience, and the power of believing in children. I’m proud of how far we’ve come, and Im even more excited about what’s ahead. Expanding our programs, supporting homeschoolers, and helping every child reach their full potential.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This Journey has had many challenges one is balancing the heart of teaching with the realities of running a business. I enjoy greatly working with children but I also have to handle creating lesson plans, finances, marketing, scheduling, and parent communication all while making sure the quality of education stays high.

It can be challenge finding teacher and tutors who share the same passion and vision for individualized learning. Building a strong team takes time, training, and trust. All while meeting the needs of each Childs unique way of learning.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work is very gratifying I’m the proud founder of Be Extraordinary Education Center, a learning center dedicated to helping primary school children reach their fullest potential. At the center, every Child’s learning journey is personalized, because I truly believe no two learners are the same. Every student has their own pace, interests, and challenges. Showing my love of creating lessons that bring out their confidence and joy in learning.

I specialize in reading, writing and foundational math skills, especially for children who may need extra support or motivation. My focus is on building strong academic foundations while also helping kids believe in themselves. My creative, hands on approaches to make learning fun and meaningful for all my studies is my passion.

Families often say I’m known for my patience, creativity, and ability to connect with children on a personal level. I have created a space where kids feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. Many parents tell me their children not only improve academically but also become more confident and curious after joining Be Extraordinary.

I’m proud of how far we’ve come, and I’m even more excited about what’s ahead. Expanding our programs, supporting homeschoolers, and helping every child reach their full potential.

What truly sets me apart is the level of personal attention and care I give to each child. I don’t use a one size fits all approach. I really get to know my students, understand what inspires them, and build the lessons around their needs. I work closely with parents so that learning continues at home. My goal isn’t just to help kids do better in school, but to help them love learning and see themselves as capable, extraordinary individual.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by growth both academic and personal. It’s not just about grades or test scores. It’s about seeing a child confidence grow. When a child leaves my center more curious, and more prepared to face challenges and being to believe in themselves, takes pride in their work, and start to enjoy learning, that’s real success. It’s the moment when they say, ” I can do this!” That’s what makes it all worth it. Planting seeds that continue to grow.
