Rising Stars: Meet Siranush Arsenian of Glendale, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Siranush Arsenian.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m originally from Russia and moved to LA all alone almost 6 years ago when I was 21. All for my biggest dream – music. I’ve been into music since 5 y.o. My mom is a musician and she took me to a music school to study piano when I was a little kid and that’s how my music journey started. I started writing songs when I was 12-13, literally 3-4 songs a day every single day. Now I look back at these songs and they sound bad to me but I was so passionate and dedicated to my craft. Since then I decided I’m gonna move to Hollywood and establish my music career to make it global. I graduated from my uni (my major was Philosophy) and moved to LA as a student to study Music Production and Music Business. I learned how to produce music and all my songs now are produced by me. I love producing with all my heart. I don’t think I can ever delegate it to someone else because my productions are very authentic and they reflect me and my inner world.
But being so young and alone in a foreign country, especially US, is not so easy. I had to learn how to survive here, especially in California which is very expensive. This country broke me at some point but it definitely made me so much stronger. I feel like I can live and survive anywhere at this point. Now I’m following my dream with more enthusiasm and perseverance. I will never stop doing it no matter how long it takes to get where I wanna be.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. As I mentioned earlier, I immigrated to the US at such a young age alone. I literally had to learn all the basic things. I couldn’t fully focus only on music because I had and still have so many other responsibilities in life. I wish I could live with my family and just focus on my craft but I don’t regret it. This is the price I have to pay for my dream.
I don’t know anyone, cultural differences, everything is very expensive in LA, I need a job – all this + my music dream. I remember my first songs were recorded in a small closet at home where I couldn’t breathe but I needed to record my vocals. But I was doing everything with so much love and faith.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a pianist, singer-songwriter and music producer. I don’t like calling myself a singer because singing is the last thing I do in my craft. I write my own songs, produce them and record at my home studio. I truly respect other artists who do everything themselves. It is a very hard, time-consuming work but I love every second of it. This process makes me who I am. I would never want to come to a studio, just record the vocals and go home. I love creating my art, something that never existed before and I made it, my mind and soul created it – it’s truly magical.
I’m proud of the fact that I eventually made my childhood dream come true – moved to LA and started making my own music. I’ve always dreamed of and now it’s my reality. The journey was tough and challenging but here we are.
I think what sets me apart is my music. When people ask me what’s my genre – I honestly can’t answer. My genre is so unique and different. It’s a mix of rnb, pop, melodic, indie. A little bit of everything. Oh and my productions… I’ve never heard anything similar!

What are your plans for the future?
Release new music. I truly want to release an EP or an album – it’s my dream.
Also, now I’m very focused on growing my socials cause it is simply essential for every artist, even if you don’t like it. I’ve been posting everyday for 4 months already and I can see even little but still positive changes.
