Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Younesi.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey at & with Noell began in 2007, before I graduated college at FIDM. My interest in fashion & styling developed even more while taking courses there, & because my parents own Noell I had the privilege of learning more about the industry by working there and being hands-on with sales, & styling. My gift of styling really blossomed as I had the opportunity to meet many beautiful women inside & out & empower them through fashion.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing in life is easy. The road to success is frequently met with road blocks & challenges, but that is what makes the journey worthwhile. The main challenge involved working closely with family & having different view points yet merging old and new & bringing newer concepts to life. Although I was new to the business & industry of fashion, my gift of styling allowed me to express myself in many different ways, and by doing so I gained the trust of not only my parents but also their team of over 10 employees who had been loyal & working with them for over 5 years. Their trust in me further motivated me to keep creating new experiences & hosting daily photo and video shoots in-house to promote the business, & talent alike. This experience of hosting photo & video shoots not only grew in-house but also on-location as well, and had opened my eyes to a beautiful world of fashion, & expanded my portfolio of talent as well. The challenges I faced were few and far between but because I had an assistant when things got busy, I was able to handle most of the creativity & logistics more smoothly. The challenges I faced were not unique to me & I am grateful to have overcame them.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My passion is styling & empowering women through fashion. I specialize in evening wear because my family owns Noell (www.noellstore.com), & that is where I have been working most my life. I am known for styling young and older women alike, transgender, & several celebrities too. My strength lies in pageantry & high-end glamour. My biggest accomplishment is organizing a Fashion Show with over 15 models, 5+ Hair & Makeup Artists and ensuring that it was a success for everyone. I am also proud of hosting over 100 models & photographers/videographers both in-house & on-location to create promotional content for Noell over the years.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Working with a mentor is a great idea for anyone wanting to improve their craft. Another gift I discovered I possess over the years has been networking & that has landed me more opportunities than I can count. I am beyond grateful for the courage I have developed to establish & endure these networking relationships, especially in such a tough industry like fashion. Hosting daily & weekly in-house and on-location photo & video shoots has been a true networking trick that I will never give up. It not only allows me to express my gift of styling to women of all backgrounds, and sizes (all walks of life) but also to allow these women to meet one another & contribute to an industry which is changing rapidly. These events I host on a daily/weekly basis allow us to all express ourselves and network with each other & share ideas and collaborate, & inevitably boost sales as well.
