Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Jay.
Hi Morgan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started comedy in 2007 and at the time was only doing stand-up. Now I heavily integrate music into my shows. With three albums, two comedy specials and a lot of pivoting and experimenting, I was able to build a social media following of over a million people. It’s given me the opportunity to tour the country and meet my fans in person.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been smooth at all. It has felt like an uphill battle every step of the way, clawing for attention and recognition. Certainly, the pandemic didn’t help, but it did give me a chance to reevaluate my craft and what I want to do.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a musician and comedian. I try to create genuine and authentic experiences for audiences that they won’t forget. The songs may be the same, but every show is unique.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
For most of us, nothing will be handed to you. Swallow your pride; you don’t deserve anything. That big break may never come. Just learn to love your work and make something you’re proud of.
