Rising Stars: Meet Megan Lehr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Lehr.

Hi Megan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I found my calling for fashion starting at a young age when my love for layering costume jewelry caused me to be late to preschool on a regular basis; luckily, my mother was always supportive of my need to create. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, I earned my degree in Communications with an emphasis in Journalism at the University of Utah. Soon after, I moved to Los Angeles where I studied Visual Communications, earning another degree from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. I moved on to work in Fashion PR and Wholesale Fashion, later finding that the creative itch I met as a child was not satisfied with this part of the industry; I therefore turned to fashion styling and have not looked back. Today, I’m still dressing Los Angeles. I just finished styling a short film, After Laughter, that I’m very excited about.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not necessarily, the good things in life are usually challenging right? It’s when you get it right, after all the hard work that makes it worth the journey. Moving to Los Angeles from Utah with no friends or family wasn’t easy, especially since it’s one of the most expensive cities you can live in. The fashion industry its self is an industry that takes work, perseverance and patience. Also, a lot of networking, even when you don’t really feel like it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Fashion Stylist! I’m really proud of the work that I did with Carbon38 and the short film that I recently worked on, After Laugher. Something that sets me apart professionally from other Stylists is the amount of detail that I put in all of my projects. I style subconsciously and do it in my free time as well as for work because I enjoy it so much. I live it, breathe it, love it and it shows through in my work.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love how LA has so many options wherever you go and so many wonderful creative people live in this beautiful city, I love that I’m so close to the water and the city at the same time. I mean the traffic isn’t great, lol.
