Rising Stars: Meet Meagan Sargent of West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Sargent.

Hi Meagan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a West-Coast writer specializing in entertainment, travel, and lifestyle content. I’m also the founder and voice behind Identify LA, a platform known for spotlighting trends, destination experiences in the travel and hospitality space, and industry personalities.

With over a decade of journalism experience, I began my career covering celebrity news and red-carpet events with bylines that have appeared in leading publications such as HollywoodLife, Nicki Swift, Us Weekly, Life & Style, and InTouch Weekly. While generally known for her celebrity and entertainment reporting, my current editorial focus centers on travel, hospitality, and lifestyle storytelling and highlighting unique destinations, luxury experiences, and the people behind them for the site Identify LA.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oftentimes the impact of societal norms would create a murky vision of what a “perfect career” looks like and it would cloud my judgement. It would make me second-guess and limit myself to a linear career trajectory. However, I found that that “idea” doesn’t work for me, nor does it work for everyone. I am the author of my life and I get to make as many edits as I’d like.

Finally recognizing that has been a big reward and has changed my mindset to how I approach new projects or interests. A question I always ask myself is: If it comes easy – is it truly worthwhile?

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently documenting my travels on IdentifyLA, where I share hotel reviews, restaurant recommendations, and lesser-known detours that are worth exploring. I believe travel isn’t just about saying you’ve been somewhere; it’s about savoring every moment. From enjoying your first sip of coffee in a local café to wandering through vibrant food halls that awaken your senses, every experience counts.

Today, I collaborate with travel professionals and tourism boards to highlight various destinations around the world. My passion for travel has also led me to become a Fora Travel Advisor. Whether it’s publicity, storytelling, or planning a trip, I know that the details matter. As a dreamer at heart, I believe in curating perfect moments with curiosity, authenticity, and wonder. My skills can elevate a pitch deck or engage the travel industry in meaningful ways.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Being genuine. Today, there are so many individuals hiding being AI. While AI can be helpful, many have lost their voices along the way. Tap into who you are, what makes you different, and what you can bring to the table. Your authenticity will always outshine crafted perfection.

In terms of finding a mentor or networking in general. I always recommend to use platforms such as LinkedIn. We have access to millions of individuals who all have various skill sets – reach out to them. If someone shares an interesting tidbit – tell them. Engage with their messages and share how it’s helped and/or what you liked about it. Authenticity draws people in and wins every time.
