Rising Stars: Meet Lauren Kong of Irvine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Kong

Hi Lauren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised an only kid in Central California where there isn’t much to do, so as a result, I had to get really creative with entertaining myself. My personal favorites were playing pretend and watching cartoons. As I got older, that creative only grew with me. I ended up performing in school musicals and started finding fun little projects online to provide voice over for. It’s just kind of taken off and snowballed into today where I take on various voice over gigs while working my way through university.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s had its ups and downs for sure. Some of the biggest struggles came in the form of feeling like I’m not doing enough quickly enough. It’s something that I’m still working on. I constantly have to remind myself that everything I do makes me a better actor, even stuff that may not seem like it since it helps me grow as a human. I also have to keep in mind that I have time and I’m not missing anything, especially since I’m on the younger side compared to many of my peers.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an actress/singer! Most of my work is in voice acting for video games, animation, ads (sorry if any of mine keep popping up for you haha), and more, but I also work on stage and on camera. My best known works are from indie games like My Time at Sandrock or indie animations like Blood Bound or Revenant (which also happen to be three of the performances I’m most proud of). I’d say what makes my work unique to me is my ability to take feedback and find ways to be creative and use it to craft genuine performances.
