Rising Stars: Meet Kenny Sara

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenny Sara.

Kenny Sara

Hi Kenny, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been in the entertainment business since 1972. I’ve seen tremendous changes locally and globally on how entertainment has widened its platform and how to communicate the spirit of challenge and the spirit of change creatively . They’re separate but still equal in terms of the creative process.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel the struggle is first and foremost. You need to tear up the old pavement on order to lay down the smooth foundation. Foundation is the key; that is your base. Now, you can proceed to build on that foundation. That’s a foundation of substance.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As I said before, I’d been in the entertainment business since 1972. I started out in New Orleans, where I was born and raised playing the drums which led to other opportunities to advance my career artistically. Growing up in New Orleans, we learned to play with other musicians, building that foundation. Today, I can see that was the building block for my wanting to go to the next level to become a professional. I’m also the owner of KKaremusic Co.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes! Keep the faith, and stay hopeful! I’m a Nichiren Buddhist practicing Buddhism with the Soka Gakkai. This practice allows me to stay focused and hopeful to transform myself to battle the negative forces. I can see how my power is in my control, not outside of myself. I can feel my strength from within. When I reach out to support and help another human being, it is also the key to a creative life.
