Rising Stars: Meet Josh Shakespeare of Los Angeles, Boyle Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Shakespeare.

Hi Josh, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Since I was in middle school I would write stand up and sketch jokes, I wasn’t funny at all. I knew from that point and a little before when I would dress up like nightcrawler or the men in black as a kid that I wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

On April 3rd 2019I drove from Connecticut with my mom all the way to California and arrived on the 6th.

On the 11th I went to my first open mic and have been living $1200 to $1200 ever since

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not. Positive self images coming from lack of social IQ in every which direction, no nepotism to rely on, and already having risqué dark material as a starting point worked against me. However my boyishly Nickelodeon good looks and untapped brilliance in comedic perspective got me in under most wires.

I specialize particularly in sketch writing. It’s something that’s always come very natural to me.

I’m most known for right now the sketches I’ve done over the years as I’ve gone viral a few times.

I’m most proud of the fact that I brought myself to the number of followers I have through my own writing.

What’s sets me apart is that my real last name is Shakespeare. It’s not a stage name.
