Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Marie
Hi Jenn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always loved writing as a hobby. While I was an engineering student at UCLA; I did a small stint at the college paper, the Daily Bruin. I was a part of their Electronic Media department.
After graduating with my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in engineering; I started working as an engineer and traveling to different cities. I really loved exploring new cities and was fascinated with each city’s diverse food offerings. A classmate from UCLA told me about Yelp and that’s where it all started. From doing Yelp reviews; I decided to start my own blog Hello Foodie Jenn.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s definitely hasn’t been smooth road. It takes a lot of time and effort to edit photos and write.
Although I really enjoy blogging; it is easy to get caught up in the “stress and pressure” of posting consistently and constantly but I always to try to remember that I do this because I love being able to share my experiences with others.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have a tagline for my Hello Foodie Jenn blog which is “sugar, spice and Hello Kitty nice.”
The “sugar, spice and Hello Kitty nice” tagline describes the different types of post features that can be found in my blog. The “sugar” posts are posts about sweet bakeries and dessert shops. The “spice” posts focuses on savory restaurants around town. Lastly, “Hello Kitty nice” are posts focused on the kawaii culture whether it be the latest cute product to hit the market or a fun cute event.
Speaking of Hello Kitty; it can be quite noticeable that I have a Hello Kitty theme for my blog. I really wanted to have my own unique touch to food blog so that it would be a reflection of me and who I am. That’s where the idea of putting a small touch of Hello Kitty came in. I’ve always loved Hello Kitty as a kid. My dad who was the most amazing cook; would bring me to the Sanrio stores back in the day in between cooking sessions at home. In a way; the blog is also a tribute to my dad.
The first event I ever featured on my blog was Hello Kitty Con in 2024! I was so excited to be able to be a media guest for their opening night.
This year 2024 is Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary and I am so excited to feature more kawaii events that celebrate Hello Kitty’s 50th year!
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love collaborating with other brands. I have collaborated with different PR companies representing various restaurants and brands such as Sanrio, Franzese, Gringo Bandito, A-Sha Noodles, The Charm Galaxy, ABC Stir-Fry Noodles and Rubio’s Coastal Grill.
