Rising Stars: Meet Jaylin White

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Jaylin White again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Jaylin, thanks for joining us again. Just to level set a bit for folks who may have missed our last interview together, can you briefly introduce yourself?
I’m Jaylin White, a Stand Up Comedian from Pasadena, CA. From acting school to the stage I’ve been committed to speaking truth to power, criticizing the status quo, advocating for mental health, and healing, all while being funny! What sets me apart is all the things I’ve survived, it gives me stories to tell, and experiences for people to glean from! I’ve gotten this far because I’ve made it my personal mission to heal myself, forcing me to evolve as individual, thus as an artist too.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
Wow, 2024 was an amazing year for me although it carried its own challenges. I was able to travel as far as New York to do comedy, I had never been on an airplane prior to that! I was able to host and perform in a sold out monthly show at The Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena. This past year I was able to form an actual comedy community with some of my peers in a way that feels authentic and genuine. I was given the opportunity to work as a Showrunner for a half hour comedy special, Lin Sun’s, “SEXY BEAST”, which is out now on YouTube. I’m set to produce a pilot and a music video as well this year which I’m really looking forward to expanding my work portfolio with. I launched a podcast last year called “My Black Job” and it’s streaming on all platforms! I’m also set to record my debut comedy album, “CASKET SHARP” July 26th with Comedy Dynamics! This being my first release, I anticipate it to be deeply personal, and intend it to reveal some of my own internal struggles that I think we all will be able to relate to and heal from together. Lastly, I’m looking forward to seeing my hometown Pasadena/Altadena completely recover from the Eaton Canyon fire, so many people lost everything, but I believe in this community, and have faith that we all will come out stronger and better than we’ve been before.

Alright, so let’s do something a bit more fast-paced and lighthearted. We call this our lightning round and we’ll ask you a few quick questions.

I want to be remembered for how I made people feel, how I loved them, that I was a nurturer, I was a healer. I want people to know that I fought for the outliers, the black sheep, and the disenfranchised. My greatest goal in life, is to be a person that is for the people. Also, they better say I was really freaking funny too!
