Rising Stars: Meet Jasmine Posadas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Posadas.

Jasmine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a young 22-year-old Latino/Hispanic woman. Full-time Student at the University of California in Irvine. I transferred from UC Merced (small hometown girl) to UC Irvine during COVID (pandemic) 2020. I started a position known as a Social Media Manager at the Real Estate Brokerage. I have been working as a Realtor since 2019 during the pandemic. I obtained my real estate license at the age of 19 and sold my first home a few three months after! I created the Social Media Manager position during the pandemic because I loved social media and its potential to grow business and connect with like-minded individuals. At the end of 2020 and the start of 2021, I lost two very important people in my life: my Grandpa Chuy in Oct 2020 and Great Grandmother in Jan 2021. These experiences were life-altering for me — they pushed me to become stronger for my family during this hard time and strive to accomplish all my dreams. These two significant experiences demonstrated to me how short life truly is and how lucky we are to be given this opportunity to live each day and achieve whatever we set our heart and mind to!

In February 2021, I accomplished an ultimate goal of mine — I obtained the role as an intern for an Entertainment News Reporter’s lifestyle podcast, “Zuri Hall’s Hot Happy Mess” which is in partnership with iHeartRadio and Black Effect Podcast Network! It was in this dream position where I learned extensive tools and skills that would prepare me for my future in the Entertainment Industry! This position opened tremendous doors for me — it still continuously paved a way for myself to this day. I was able to attend the Billboard Music Award Pre Show and Emmy Prep for the Executive Producer/ Entertainment News Reporter’s, Zuri Hall. In this position, I worked as a Social Media Intern/Manager where I took my experience as a Realtor & Social Media Manager from my previous real estate brokerage and put it to the test! I successfully scaled their Instagram from 5k to over 11k in a short four months span. I created graphics for their social media platforms, wrote scripts for the podcast, and pitched stories for the podcast as well! After a year as an Intern, I was promoted to the Multi-Media Production Assistant for the podcast.

I moved from my hometown of Atwater, California after remotely attending UC Irvine from home during the 2020-2021 school year, to Irvine, California in September 2021! It was the first time moving away from home and living all on my own. But this was so exciting for me I took the opportunity to continue to network and scale myself and truly experience college life. I decided to get serious with my own social media influencing – making income on the side via my Instagram. I partnered with Tommy Hilfiger on a dream brand partnership at the end of that year! I also got the chance to attend my first ever Red Carpet event – the Red Notice Netflix Movie premiere starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Godot! At the start of 2022, I focused on progressing the podcast with my new responsibilities as an Assistant Producer. I also began to attend more community networking events! At these events, I met such amazing people and decided to become a Social Media Manager part-time — utilizing my skills I had honed over the years to help friends! I worked with stars from The Oppenheim Group/ Netflix’s Selling the OC and as well The Real Housewives of OC with creating social media assets for their platforms!

In the summer of 2022, I broke into the Luxury Real Estate market learning from fellow luxury real estate professionals in my community! 🤩 Also, throughout the summer of 2022, I decided to take a chance on my Modeling dreams. I walked for OC Fashion Week — I took it upon myself to be a representation for my petite curvy Latin community! I wanted to continue to inspire myself that you can truly do it all, if you can dream it you can do it! After booking every single day of the show for Fashion Week in Orange County. I also booked LAFW in October 2022! It was a truly phenomenal weekend! I got the chance to walk at the Los Angeles Convention Center which was in Downtown LA across the Crypto Arena 🤩.

I ended the year with attending the Teen Vogue Summit where I was in attendance among amazing talented people in the entertainment industry! Such as Keke Palmer, SAWEETIE, and stars from Freeform shows like “Grownish” to name a few! I was network heaven! It was such an incredible experience learning and hearing from my industry greats!

I also accomplished an additional goal of mine in Dec. 2022 where I had secured a partnership with Good American! It was such a dream to work with this inclusive brand that is positively changing the Fashion norms — embracing representation of all women/men of different colors, shapes, and sizes!

Today I am on track to graduate from UC Irvine in the spring (2023)! I will continue breaking into the industry with my new community I recently founded known as “Latina Girls in Media”! A Community that embraces People of all backgrounds and cultures — focuses on uplifting, supporting others as well as providing helpful resources, opportunities, and tools for Marketing, Media, and Entertainment Leaders in the industry!

This past weekend I hosted my first open house of the New Year and attended OCFW casting weekend 2 and visited a family welcoming my brand new baby cousin! Visited my beautiful family, I am the eldest of three siblings! When I had to leave for college, it definitely was such a hard decision as I grew up constantly watching after my siblings! I have a younger sister 18, brothers 6 and 4! An older half-sister on my father’s side as well.

Currently, I am working on UGC content creation and my college midterm exams!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, I have overcome many obstacles. I had dealt with depression at a young age after losing family members over time to illnesses and the pandemic more recently. I have demonstrated such a great example of resilience as I was able to overcome the grief. I achieved some amazing career highlights and accomplishments so far through my journey to which led me to founding “Latina Girls In Media”.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The power of networking, Resilience and Discipline can take you places you have always dreamed of! As long as you work hard enough, you can truly accomplish your wildest dreams!
