Hi Jashanna “Shanna T.”, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in the streets of Philadelphia — a place that taught me toughness, heart, and how to survive. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be an actress. It wasn’t just something I dreamed about; it was something I felt deep in my soul. I wanted to tell stories, to step into different lives, and to bring truth to the screen.
But life doesn’t always move in a straight line. When I became an adult, I promised myself I would chase that dream. Then, some unforeseen things happened that changed my path. I found myself incarcerated, serving four years of a five-year federal sentence.
Those years tested me in every way possible. It put a pause — maybe even a shadow — over my dreams. But even in that space, I never stopped imagining. I never stopped believing that there was something greater waiting for me once I got out.
When I came home, I made a decision: I would not let that chapter be the end of my story. Instead, I used it as fuel — as proof that no matter how far you fall, you can rise again. My past doesn’t define me — it refines me.
My struggles didn’t break me; they built me. They gave me depth, strength, and a story worth telling. Today, I’m still that same girl from Philly — passionate, determined, and unstoppable. Every audition, every role, every opportunity — it’s all part of the comeback.
Now, I stand in my truth, turning my pain into power and my dreams into reality. My journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s mine, — and it’s only the beginning.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced a lot of challenges along the way — from self-doubt, insecurities, and financial setbacks to moments when I questioned whether I was on the right path or if I was strong enough to make it through! I lost time, family and friends to my struggles! There were times I had to learn everything from scratch and keep going even when progress felt slow. But those struggles taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of trusting the process. Each obstacle pushed me to grow and made me more determined to reach my goals.”

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
“I’m an actress, and my passion lies in bringing stories to life and connecting with audiences through authentic performances. I specialize in acting for film and television, and I’m known for my dedication to each role I take on — I love diving deep into a character’s world and finding the emotion that makes them real.
I’m most proud of the movies and projects I’ve been part of, especially the ones that challenged me and helped me grow as an artist. Being recognized at red carpet events and having people celebrate my work means so much — it reminds me how far I’ve come and inspires me to keep creating.
What really sets me apart is my commitment to always delivering truth and emotion in my performances, no matter the role. I approach every project with heart, professionalism, and a genuine love for the craft.”

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Determination! That’s truly been the driving force behind my journey. In this industry, you hear ‘no’ far more than you hear ‘yes,’ but I’ve learned not to let rejection define me. Every obstacle and every setback has only fueled my desire to keep going and prove what I’m capable of. I believe that when you stay determined — when you keep showing up with passion and purpose — doors eventually open. That mindset has carried me through the toughest moments and helped me celebrate the most rewarding ones. It’s that unwavering belief in myself and my dreams that keeps me moving forward
