Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Edward
Hi Jack, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started in a rural town in West Michigan where creativity was the forefront of my existence. I was lucky enough to have a supportive family that let me express myself freely and accepted me with open arms. Theatre and the visual arts were my main passions and from a very young age, the stage was my home. I always knew I was supposed to live in a big city and dreamed of going to Juilliard in New York City. While I didn’t even apply to Juilliard, the college I did attend just a few blocks away in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Unfortunately Covid-19 had other plans for me and my college journey was cut short forcing me to move back home to Middleville, Michigan. I am thankful for this time, but I became restless and needed more excitement in my life. That’s where Los Angeles comes in. August 15th, 2020 is when I packed my suitcase and took a one way flight to LAX completely on my own. I moved into an artist house that had 8 other people living there that I had never met before. I met some of my dearest friends while at this house and eventually moved from Hollywood to North Hollywood and finally have a place of my own after sleeping on couches and sharing rooms for a few years. While acting has been my main focus on the west coast, I am venturing into social media and fashion as other creative outlets.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The bumpy road makes the journey all the more fulfilling. It’s no surprise that LA is expensive, but the city is massive and spread out so not having a car leads to some moments of isolation. I like to always look at the bright side and know that I truly had a blessed life. Moving across the country at 19 and having to support yourself is a choice I would make time and time again, but that doesn’t change the drive and grit I have had to develop to actually sustain a life here.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
While I am still breaking into the industry, I’ve done my share of background work in TV, Film and Commercials. Acting is my main medium, but I my arms are open to what comes my way as a creative. Modeling, writing, and dance also play a role in my creative life. Honestly, I think I am know for being the positive, genuine, and a devoted friend. I take pride in being a support system for the people in my life and bring that energy to the sets I work on. Writing is something I’ve dabbled in and writing, directing, and acting a short film with my friend Persephone is very high on the list of things I am most proud of. Other aspects of my background are cheerleading and dance. I believe this physicality helps to take my acting to a level beyond the words.
What were you like growing up?
WOW. I actually think I am very similar to the Jack people knew in my adolescence. Fun loving, spontaneous, and painfully honest are some of the ways I would describe myself. I was always an expressive kid and had an unhealthy obsession with the color purple. While doing theatre, band, and choir, I was also a competitive cheerleader, on the student council and very active in the visual arts, especially ceramics and sculpture. I am the youngest of three and have always quite the social butterfly. I am eternally grateful for my friends and family that continue to show me unconditional love and I strive to do the same for those around me.
