Today we’d like to introduce you to Imunique Gibson.
Hi Imunique, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m 25 years old. I have a son, a little bundle of joy due in March of next year and I’m a soon-to-be wife. I have always wanted to better myself and provide for my son that has always been my main focus. I’m very creative but really just thought of it as being a hobby. I met my fiancé Nan in 2018 and she really gave me that motivation I thought I didn’t have. She pushed me to really get out there and show the world what I’m capable of. She took me to get registered and everything then the pandemic hit but I’m a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. I work at Starbucks but we were closed down in the beginning so that allowed me to focus on my craft, start an Instagram and showcase my talents. My fiancé is also my business partner and honestly without her, I don’t think there would be an All Thingz Unique.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road for myself or us and the business but I wouldn’t change anything. You have to have some rain in order to appreciate the sunshine. In our personal lives, we have encountered so much death and unstableness but what doesn’t kill you will only make you stronger right? As far as the business struggles it’s just hard to mass produce when it’s just the two of us. Or if something doesn’t come out right and we can’t figure it out it feels like a failure, or if you have that one customer that’s just never satisfied, we have to stay active on our social media and post every day, etc. Keep in mind we both work regular 9 to 5’s it can just be so overwhelming at times but again it’s so worth it because I’ve gained and learned so much about myself. I’ve even met some really cool people and have a lot of other things coming because I never gave up.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At All Thingz Unique, we specialize in custom-made items so nothing is ever the same. Majority of our products are made with resin. We make keychains, trays, ashtrays, jars amongst other things. We make snow globe cups, color changing cups, that’s where the majority of our vinyl work comes in. We customize alcohol bottles (unopened/opened), we do stash boxes/jewelry boxes or whatever you want to use it for. We make furry slides, baskets for all holidays and the list goes on. We also do mason jars (adults/kids), jello and syringe shots but those are seasonal (summertime only). I’m most proud of just not giving up, I never would have thought I would be in this position and it makes it 10 times better that I get to share it with the person I’m in love with. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I literally do it ALL. I don’t limit myself to just one thing. I’m always learning so I can better my craft and I’m not selfish with information. I genuinely believe it’s enough money and success out here for EVERYONE, I want to see everyone win.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The only advice I would have is you can’t be shy, timid, or a doormat. You can be nice and likable but don’t let people walk all over you. Yes, you need customers but set clear firm boundaries, you have to get out of your comfort zone, ask questions, be willing to learn, be social, have long nights but most importantly NEVER give up. You have to live life to the fullest with whatever you do because you only get one. I’m definitely living and loving life while doing what I love.
