Rising Stars: Meet Helena J. Conley

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Helena J. Conley.

Hi Helena, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After teaching high school and college math for nine years, at the time, I received a 12k pay cut three months after buying a house. Financially, that threw me for a loop, and I finally went to a Teacher Retirement Seminar with a friend, and that changed my life. I learned BASIC money concepts about personal finances. What was surprising is NONE of these money concepts were being taught in school.

I stayed as a math educator but decided to learn more about the financial services energy. After three years as a dual career, I took an early retirement from LAUSD and began being a full-time entrepreneur in the money game. I begin my 13th year as a Life Insurance & Annuity Expert Strategist. I travel the country, educating people on how to Build, Protect and Preserve wealth.

I have trained thousands of other agents in the financial services industry since. I am a motivational speaker as well as podcast host of Smart Money Moves w/ Helena. My focuses are retirement planning, college planning, living benefits, and IRA/401k rollovers.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing about being an entrepreneur is smooth. LOL.

Fighting the urge to give up and go back to a “consistent” paycheck. Knowing where to focus your energy all of the time. When hiring help or doing it yourself, understanding ALL Money/Business is not good Money/Business. Understanding you can’t please everyone!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I spoke all about these two answers, so to NOT duplicate everything, I’ll focus on a slightly different piece. My gift is to speak/teach/educate. I have always had a knack for helping people learn. Teaching Math was satisfying initially, but after almost a decade, I wanted more.

After working in the financial services industry for almost 13 years now, I have been able to mentor in a different manner. Helping people change their financial situations for the better and become leaders in the industry brings me great joy.

What are your plans for the future?
I have continued to expand my business throughout the US. I grew up in Inglewood, CA and always been excited to plants roots throughout.  Business has led me to Atlanta, GA, Dallas/Houston, TX, Bellevue/Seattle, WA, and Raleigh, North Carolina!

After building a COMPLETE foundation throughout the country, I will spend a little time on my passion, which is sports, particularly the NFL & MLB. I don’t know what fascist is, but I can’t wait. My 4th career will be as a flight attendant. All over, I know, but it’s all CRYSTAL CLEAR in my mind.
