Rising Stars: Meet Ferny Georges of North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ferny Georges

Hi Ferny, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was 2, my mom enrolled me at Alicia’s School of the Performing Arts. By the age of 5, I had a clear fascination towards movement and music and decided that I wanted to be a dancer. Growing up in rural North Carolina, the idea of pursuing dance or any art form was uncommon. So I looked to shows and movies like So You Think You Can Dance, Shake It Up and Step Up to find inspiration.
After graduating highschool, I went to AMDA College of the Performing Arts. Studying at both their NYC and Los Angeles campuses refined my technique and gave me the tools to build my artistry. Since graduating with my BFA last year, I’ve signed with BLOC Talent Agency, become a member of the Los Angeles Jazz Company and embarked on my journey in the entertainment industry. Some of my credits thus far include Lauv’s “Potential”, Disney, Marvel, Aria Las Vegas, “The Time is Now” at The Avalon and dancing for Mariah Carey in the NFL Christmas Day Live on Netflix.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly has not been a smooth journey. But I wouldn’t change a thing, the challenges I faced brought out my greatest strengths. My mom is incredible and always did her best but as a Haitian immigrant in the south there was but so much she could do. Being raised in a low income, single parent household meant limited resources, extra stress, and often feeling isolated. It also fueled my creativity, raised my sensitivity to the world around me, and elevated my work ethic so I could still “succeed” in spite of the hurdles I faced. Being first generation, I held the pen to a new chapter so I felt it was my duty to be the best example I could and inspire those following my steps.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a dancer/creative based in LA, also trained in acting and singing. I’m primarily focused on performing but I have visions to create and direct in the future. I specialize in wearing many hats; my versatility as a movement artist and my wide range of human experiences makes me a valuable asset to any room. I’m known for my illuminating authenticity and my ability to see the good.
My goal is to use art, one of the most influential forces in the world, to inspire, convey messages that bring hope, amplify marginalized voices and encourage the cultivation of humanity.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My most impactful childhood memories were those spent at youth camp. It’s where I learned humility, generosity and the faith that has carried me this far. It’s where I made the best decision of my life. It’s where I spent summers sewing dresses for children in Haiti, packaging food for those in need, singing songs for the elderly, and learning how to use my time and gifts to spread the love of Jesus.
