Rising Stars: Meet Fede Almanzor of West Hollywood, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fede Almanzor

Fede, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m originally from Sevilla, a town in the south of Spain, and I’ve been tattooing for about twelve years. I don’t have an art background, but I’ve always enjoyed drawing since I was a kid. Becoming a tattoo artist wasn’t something I initially dreamed of—life led me there. I started by drawing designs for friends, and one of my designs caught the attention of a tattoo artist who invited me to apprentice at his studio, marking the start of my career. In the beginning, I experimented with various styles, but I naturally gravitated toward Neo-traditional, as many of my designs leaned in that direction. I’ve traveled all over Europe to tattoo and have worked in a couple of cities in the States, while also running my own shop in Sevilla. My journey has taken me through a variety of experiences that eventually led me to settle in Los Angeles, where I’m now based. Along the way, I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge and skills, and LA has become my home, offering endless opportunities for growth and connection.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been easy. Many people think luck is the key, but there’s a lot of hard work behind it. I’ve had to sacrifice time with friends and other activities, dedicating myself fully to tattooing and drawing, almost obsessively. One of my biggest challenges has always been myself—self-sabotaging and thinking my work is never good enough. But over time, I’ve learned to relax mentally and focus on what matters: ensuring my clients leave happy and want to return. Tattooing will always be my passion, and I’ll continue learning and growing.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do neotraditional, but I don’t like to fit it into a specific style; it’s like neotraditional but with certain realistic techniques and influenced by art nouveau. I think what people most know about my work is that I really enjoy making faces of girls with themes that I really like, and I think, above all, what sets me apart is my very limited color palette.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Not to relax, you have to be consistent and not think that you know everything already. There are times when I get really frustrated or when I do tattoos on autopilot, but when I relax and think that I already know everything, I couldn’t do it any better, and I realized that I had to keep evolving, offer new things to clients, and try to bring something fresher to the tattoo world.
