Today we’d like to introduce you to Ewdylan Dylan Rowe.
Hi ewdylan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my music journey at around 13, I remember asking my mom for this like pretty low priced mic thinking I was gonna be some star. I was so mistaken. It took me years of making absolutely everything I could possibly make for me to even to begin to notice a shift in my sound. I remember feeling hopeless, like the work I was putting in could’ve gone elsewhere or like to school or something. Now almost 7 years later, I feel like the vision I’ve molded has the ability to be accepted & catch the ears of people all around the globe. I’ve been hurt, loved, up, down, & music what was always there in the end. It was an escape from everything & that’s what I have to offer to everybody. A way to escape.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all, with limited equipment & no money for studio time I felt absolutely held back. I felt like I had all this talent & so much to showcase but just could never keep eyes on me. I never felt seen. I feel like that’s why I refer to my music & my art as a VISION rather than just sound. You got to see it you know? I’ve made connections & have networked with the right people so I feel I’ve overcome a lot of the struggles I had earlier in my career.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an artist/producer, my work would fall into the underground rap scene, which is always changing there is not one specific sound. I feel I also have a lot of different musical inspirations which helped me keep my sound versatile. I sing, I rap, I make the beats majority of the time. I feel like it’s not many out there with a following as small as mine that can execute both sides of what constructs a song. I am really proud of how I’ve executed my last few albums, I feel like I know exactly what fits together on the music side of things & the visuals. I am usually in full creative control over my projects however my manager does help put a lot of the pieces together so I’m for sure not alone with my vision.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I would be lying if I said it was any books that helped me do my best, it was pure trial & error. I just created until I couldn’t think anymore, I sang until my voice hurt, I rapped until I was spitting all over the mic, but I was deep in it. The pressure of knowing it’s a million people out here trying to make the same thing & I had the chance to make something that’d not change the direction of underground rap, but shift what was currently popping IF I was successful? That was all the drive I needed. Just kept going until I couldn’t.
