Rising Stars: Meet Ashlie Devincenzi of Mission Viejo, California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlie Devincenzi.

Hi Ashlie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In sunny Southern California, an exciting adventure unfolded on the golf course. My sister-in-law, eager to learn the game, teamed up with her friend to start a golf league. They invited me to join, knowing I already had some experience swinging clubs. Together, we formed what was initially called Gals On The Green, but our passion soon led us to purchase the LA chapter, transforming it into **Fore Gals On The Green**. ⛳️

Our league quickly expanded, establishing chapters in Palm Desert, LA, and Orange County. At our peak, we had around 225 enthusiastic women golfers; now, with a manageable 150 members, we continue to thrive. We play four times a month, featuring a mix of events, including clinics, 18-hole tournaments, and nine-hole outings.

My golf journey began about 12 years ago when I met my husband, who introduced me to the game. We spent countless weekends on the greens, often in beautiful Mexico. He wanted me to be part of something that empowered women, and joining this league felt like a perfect step.

The camaraderie and friendships forged on the course are truly special. Our members, ranging from 20 to 85 years old, come together to share laughs, support one another, and enjoy the game. It’s a unique opportunity for women to inspire and uplift each other, especially in a sport often dominated by men.

As we embrace the beautiful Southern California weather, we look forward to many more rounds of golf and cherished memories, making every swing count in this incredible journey together.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road; it’s been quite bumpy, to say the least. My primary goal is to ensure that the ladies have a safe and empowering space to pursue their love for golf. Over the past year, we faced significant challenges, particularly after my sister-in-law left and we asked the CEO to step down. Things were not being run or managed effectively, and we realized that we didn’t have the right women in key positions, which led to a lot of struggles.

We attempted to create business plans, but unfortunately, they weren’t followed through. However, we’re now in a better position and focused on returning to our original mission: bringing women together through golf. We explored various initiatives, including retreats and purchasing merchandise, but we overspent and didn’t charge enough for our services. This mismanagement hindered our growth.

Despite these setbacks, we remain committed to creating a supportive community where women can thrive in their love for golf. We’re refocusing our efforts and looking forward to getting back on track.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
