Rising Stars: Meet Angela Kent

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Kent

Angela, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Navigating mid-life, I spent years uncertain of my identity, aspirations, or self-perception. As I’ve aged, both my internal and external worlds have begun to align. The journey here was lengthy, but at 55, I’ve reached a place of true comfort, security, and happiness within myself and in my career.

My journey to this point has been shaped by perseverance, diligence, a positive attitude, and hard work, focusing on personal growth and professional development.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My most significant challenges have arisen from my internal dialogue. Letting go of patterns, habits, and thoughts that no longer benefit me has resulted in a more optimistic outlook on life. This shift has enriched my creativity, work, and perception of the world as I embark on the next phase of my life as a mother, wife, individual, and woman.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My passion has always been to capture the world around me through photography. I find joy in creating images of the everyday—a doorway, a door, a window frame, a chair, and more. Photography is my medium of self-expression, focusing on the small, seemingly mundane details that fill our daily lives. Typically, I take photos with my iPhone and then print them for display in galleries, art shows, and exhibits.

What distinguishes my work is the ability to capture the ordinary in a way that transforms it into art, making people see the beauty in what they would normally pass by without a second glance.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What is most important to me is to be understanding, a good listener, a good person, positive, hopeful, helpful, and supportive to my family, friends, and those around me.

I have a daughter in high school, and I aim to be a role model, an example, and someone she can admire, respect, and emulate for her positive qualities as she grows into her own person in today’s world.
