Rising Stars: Meet Aasheesh Paliwal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aasheesh Paliwal.

Hi Aasheesh, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started writing songs on the guitar when I was 13 and started producing electronic music ten years later when I was 23. At first, I just wanted to make cool dance music and highlight elements from my Indian culture.

It seemed for a while like I could find a home in the industry as an “Indian diaspora DJ/Producer” – the music was well received and it was a marketable angle. But even with some early success with this identifiable sound (over 25 million global streams and counting), I felt that there was a more authentic voice waiting to be uncovered, free of the need to fit into the musical persona I was beginning to be known for … a voice inspired by something deeper and more universal to the human condition.

Through my spiritual journey, I’ve come to realize that the deep sense of belonging and love I was always seeking outside of myself can only be found from within. This is the core message that now influences everything I create: from my music to my writing to my performances and more: belong to yourself, and you’ll belong anywhere you go.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It continues to be an up-and-down journey. The biggest thing I’m always coming up against is my own limiting beliefs about what I’m capable of and what I’m worthy to receive.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I wear a lot of hats – I make music, play guitar, sing, DJ, host a podcast and do private one-on-one coaching with clients. The common thread underneath all of these activities is my intention, which is to help people feel safer to be themselves and to belong to themselves more. That has been my core insecurity through life and the thing I’ve worked on the most, and so it’s the exact medicine I want to serve to others through my art and work.

What makes you happy?
Acceptance of what is – because the greater the acceptance, the more independent my sense of happiness is of whatever is happening externally.
