Meet Tyrone Good of 1708 Empire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyrone Good.

Hi Tyrone, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got started in the studio business because of my family. Close and distant, all were artists, engineers, and or producers. I was in real estate at the time and they looked up to me as someone who could invest in their careers. I meshed the two and built a studio. I saw an immediate need in my hometown being fulfilled. The studio stayed booked and busy, I got excited to see people happy and see my business flourish. I started keeping track of clients and creating content for the studios’ projects. Then I later started working towards starting a record label. I wanted to keep everything in-house and grow with my people. It would be easy for us to grow and keep each other working. Now I have more locations in Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and LA.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t, a lot of the struggles pertained to me changing my mentality. Coming from a rough environment, I have to learn how to be more professional and talk to different types of people. I had to dive deep into learning the business. I just built a studio that happens to succeed very fast and I had to learn how to deal with the demands. Also, in times where the studio became less active and non-profitable, I had to switch up my tactics to get it booked and paying the bills.

As you know, we’re big fans of 1708 Empire. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
1708 Empire is a company with a multitude of entertainment services. We strive to provide everything necessary for our artists to produce greatness. With an up-and-coming record label, three recording studios in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Pittsburgh, production spaces, and merchandise. It started around family and still thrives between friends and family but has turned into something greater. I think what sets us apart is that everything is done in-house, you record a song, where they’re beginning to end, we help get new artists set up, shoot videos, and strive to get them where they need to be. Our team helps along every step necessary. I’m most proud of working on a legacy. Starting from my grandparents’ house, my niece’s nephews, brothers, cousins are all involved and I want this to continue for generations. A lot of my family isn’t blood either we’re a loyal close-nit team that’s dedicated to one goal.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One night I made potato salad for my parents and they enjoyed it. Super simple but gratifying and something I always remember.
