Thanks for sharing your story with us Trine Dahl. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a Danish florist and stylist based in Los Angeles at my flower studio BLOMST LOS ANGELES. The studio is located at the foot of the Verdugo Mountains a little north of downtown LA.
I moved from Copenhagen to LA in 2014 and quickly opened my flower studio, working with flowers every day, because it is my passion.
Well known in Copenhagen for my flower shops, I brought my Scandinavian style of flower arranging to LA, mixing it with the natural, chic California style, that I love.
My first shop was based in the beautiful heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. I opened it at age 24 after completing my education as a graphic designer in advertising. Simultaneously with making floral creations for corporate businesses, ad agencies, fashion stores and celebrity clients, I worked as a stylist for Danish magazines creating editorials on interior and floral trends. And I still do. It is a part of my every day work life of creating something beautiful.
My artistic skills and sense of color has brought many clients to choose Blomst LA as their florist of choice including numerous celebrities and Hollywood personalities.
I use California grown flowers and greens when creating my floral designs with my personal fingerprint of wild/garden like/natural/chic blooms.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It is always a lot of work starting a business from the ground, but when it is driven by a personal desire, passion and will power, you don’t really notice, you just go!
I have never had any help or assistance and have always provided for myself and “hustled” to make ends meet, like a true bohemian. Nobody gave me anything, money or aid, so I know what I am is because of my own work and determination.
In LA, I quickly became a sought-after florist, due to my sense of color and natural style. People find me via my Instagram feed that I use daily as my sole form of advertising.

My specialty is the mild, natural, Scandinavian like but still very voluptuous flower arrangements – in particular I am known for my very pretty ROSE BOXES. They are my number one seller, and they are popular because nobody makes them like I do. The colors and wrapping – it is unique to LA, and everywhere else.
What sets me apart from the classic, all American florist style is my natural way of arranging flowers. It is my flower choice, my color palettes and the garden like or “wild” nature of the arrangements. They are still very elegant, but not too arranged and stiff. My Roseboxes are sought after because they look natural, they are packed with roses and I use mixes of pretty colors.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have done very little differently. I already had 20 years of experience from Copenhagen, being a florist and flower stylist there, so I knew the game.
I quickly found my sweet local vendors at the Flower market and I am very loyal to my vendors.
