Meet Tin Bui of BUI BEAUTY BAR

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tin Bui.

Tin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Graduated with a BS in Biochemistry and Biology Science, I had a goal to become a Pharmacist.

However, as working in pharmaceutical field, I started to realize deep down my heart that pharmacy is not my passions in life. It is what my family wants me to become, so I can have a stable career and financial stability. My heart is where the art is. Since I was a little child, I always love to paint, draw, sketch, and color. I deeply emerge myself into abstract paintings and artistic pieces.

Also, I have a passion in beauty, of how to enhance women’s beauty. Passionated with the Beauty Industry, I left my job as Biochemist and opened a family business specialized in Nail Art, Waxing, Permanent Make Up, Facial and Hair. Being an owner of a Beauty salon without years of experience in the Industry, I failed miserably. Despite all the difficulties, I immediately obtained my license and took advanced classes in Nail Art.

From then, I started to change the basic nail to another level of art by using the most current stones, charms, hand-painted designs, etc. The customers appreciated the art; thus, they referred people in their networks. My beauty shop became the most popular in town since I used the right marketing of the nail art and employed the well-trained talented nail technicians. In 2013, I sold my beauty shop due to the long commute and other personal reasons.

Selling the business was the difficult decision, but it was the right choice. Working at several high-end nail shop has taught me so many different new aspects of nails, Japanese nail art, fantasy nail art, eyelash extensions, and other esthetician jobs. I become more well-rounded Manicurist/Cosmetologist. Also, as a Hand and Nails Harmony Educator, I have a chance to work at the show and teach classes for younger generation.

As a second generation of Manicurist/Cosmetologist, I always learn to improve myself as an artist to change the basic thinking of clients towards the nails industry. I have the honor to do nail covers for major magazines in nail industry, such as Nails Magazine and Vietsalon Magazine

Furthermore, I was inspired by Daniel Phu, the guru in lash industry with multiple lash patent. Thus, I obtained certification and training with all the best in lash industry, Daniel Phu, Borboleta Beauty, and Russian Lash Company. With all the trainings, experience, hard-working and passion, I have become one of the best and popular lash artists in the SouthBay.

Besides nails and eyelashes, I am also certified with Microblading LA, David Zhang, and Biotouch for microblading and permanent make up. I opened my high-end beauty shop – Bui Beauty Bar in 2015, specialized in Nail Art Designs, Eyelashes Extension, and Permanent Make up. In 2019, we will expand our specialties in facial, massage and hair.

Our priorities are high-end quality services, modern chic decors, clean and sanitize tools, and convenience. Coming to Bui Beauty Bar, clients get the best quality services in a beautiful setting. We also have a VIP room where all three services as nails, pedicure and eyelashes were done at the same time. So all the busy mothers and businesswomen can save their precious time. I will always strive my best to bring my shop to the next level.

Has it been a smooth road?
Success never comes easily. There have been a lot of challenges and struggles along the way. First of all, it is the competition around – so I always make sure clients see the best quality that we offer.

Secondly, as a high-end shop, the price of the services is higher than an average shop; therefore the challenge is to have client recognizes the differences in our high-end services and the other average shop.

Thirdly, finding the talented employee is also very difficult. Luckily, we have the best team of talents now. Picking a good location for the shop was also a difficult decision.

Furthermore, there are often people who are jealous with our success and trying to ruin what we’ve built; thus, sometimes having a good lawyer on your side is always a good ideal.

There is nothing negative that I can think of LA. It is the best city to live in, especially the South Bay area where my shop’s located. LA is full of non-stop energy, extravagant life, amazing fashion, and wonderful entertainment.
