Meet Tacey of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tacey

Hi TACEY, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was always drawn to the performing arts since I was a little girl and I’ve loved music and dance since I can remember. I started dancing when I was 4 years old in my hometown, Dallas, TX, and after being on stage for the first time I never stopped. Growing up I was a competitive dancer, I traveled all around the country with dance conventions taking classes and assisting the best choreographers out there, I used to compete almost every weekend and I loved it!

I eventually started to train vocally as well and by the age of 10 I was lucky to spend about 50 hrs. weekly training at one of the best conservatories in the country, as soon as I turned 13 my family took the decision to come to LA so I could keep growing as an artist and I could persuade my dream in the entertainment industry.

My music career took off at 15 when I officially started recording and focusing on fusing my dancing with my singing but the truth is that I always knew music and dance were going to be in my life forever, my passion for the stage is something that I was born with and I couldn’t really imagine doing anything else.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I was already working as a professional dancer when I started to make music at 15 and being in the competitive entertainment industry since such a young age is tough. You got to really love the art and be disciplined, you have to stay patient and persistent to start seeing results after putting all the hard work, the countless hours, and full dedication into it, and yes, I’ve made a lot of sacrifices to get here but it’s all worth it. I’ve learned to be mentally strong so I could keep going when I didn’t feel supported or appreciated and I’m honestly grateful for the ups and down even when people or things don’t go the way you expect, I look for the best of anything and I learn from every experience because I know I’m only getting better as a person and artist, but of course without the passion for my art I wouldn’t have survived and I wouldn’t be here.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a bilingual (English/Spanish) musical artist and dancer, dance was what influenced me from the beginning to make music, I learned to love and appreciate all kinds of music through dancing, to me they are both deeply connected.

I’m definitely a visual artist, I enjoy making music videos and I love performing live more than anything; the stage is my favorite place, where I’m happy the most:) but I’m also fully involved in the creative process of my music, my music videos and my career in general, I work hard next to my producers to make sure that the result is exactly how I want it to be. It has been very important to me from the start that my brand represents my femininity and sensuality in everything I put out there, I’m in front and behind every project I work on and that’s something that I’m very proud of not only as an artist but as a young business woman as well.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
There’s many, one of my favorite childhood memories is probably winning dance nationals when I was 11 years old! Accomplishing that felt super rewarding especially competing against amazing talent. It made me realized that all my hard work really did pay off and it was a huge motivation to dream bigger and never stop working towards my goals.
