Today we’d like to introduce you to Tacet .
Hi Tacet, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Latino rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer representing the San Gabriel Valley in Greater Los Angeles. Raised in a musical household— my father a DJ and death-metal frontman— I taught myself guitar by 10, beats by 15, and by 18 scored my first major credit producing RAMIREZ’s underground anthem “Grey Gods” featuring $uicideboy$ (a track that helped cement my reputation as an RIAA Gold producer). Drawing inspiration from Dr. Dre, MF DOOM, J Dilla, and Madlib, Tacet has carved a raw yet versatile sound blending gritty hip-hop, bilingual lyricism, and live instrumentation. His catalog spans acclaimed projects like Speak No Evil (2022), No Forgiveness (2023), EL CADEJO (2024), and See No Evil (2025), released under his Third World Posse imprint. Beyond the studio, Tacet has become a staple in Los Angeles’ warehouse circuit—headlining venues like 1720—while expanding his reach to stages across the U.S. A true DIY multi-hyphenate, he writes, produces, mixes, and even plays guitar on his records, building a reputation as one of southern California’s most authentic and self-driven voices.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve experienced much throughout my respected career. The journey has been anything but smooth—marked by financial poverty, betrayal, heartbreak, and the physical exhaustion that comes with excessive touring. Perhaps the greatest sacrifice has been my own sanity, poured into the art as the cost of expressing myself fully. Yet through every trial, the gratitude, reciprocation, and the love from my supporters, they have kept me grounded and have fueled my career’s growth. For me, Tacet, it has always been worth it—whether standing on stage in front of seven or seven thousand, or alone in the studio channeling my inner thoughts and emotions into compelling records. There is nowhere else id rather be.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer. I’ve built my career on independence and authenticity. I specialize in creating music that balances raw, gritty hip-hop with live instrumentation and bilingual lyricism, often producing, mixing, and even playing guitar on my own records. I’m known for my versatility—able to craft heavy underground anthems like TRUNK RATTLE while also delivering vulnerable songs like LUV SICK—and also for my role as both an artist and a producer, with my earliest milestone being the production of RAMIREZ’s Grey Gods featuring $uicideboy$, a record that introduced me to the global underground and earned me Gold certification.
What I’m most proud of is the fact that I’ve stayed true to my vision from the beginning. My music reflects not only my personal story but also my culture and community; projects like EL CADEJO and See No Evil channel my heritage and my growth while pushing the sound of Los Angeles & Southern California forward. What sets me apart is my ability to wear every hat—artist, producer, engineer, instrumentalist—while still connecting deeply with fans on an emotional level. From state to state, venue to venue, or whether performing in a warehouse in front of seven people or onstage for thousands, I bring the same energy, passion, and honesty. At the end of the day, my work is about transforming pain, struggle, and experience into music that resonates, inspires, and lasts.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Los Angeles is the people and the culture. When things get tough, LA sticks together—there’s a real sense of unity regardless of whether you’re raza, Black, Asian, or white. Everyone taps in with each other, and that basic level of respect is something unique to this city. The food is another highlight; LA is a true melting pot. I’ve traveled around the world, but I’ll always say the best Mexican food in the U.S. is here, and beyond that you can find authentic dishes from every culture. Being Nicaraguan, I can vouch for the fact that our spots here really throw down.
On the flip side, there are definitely challenges. Traffic is brutal, gas and rent prices are sky-high, and the live music scene can feel inaccessible at times. LA also attracts people from outside the city who come here and don’t always respect the culture, which can hurt its reputation. But despite those struggles, the positives outweigh the negatives—Los Angeles will always be home and the foundation of my artistry.
