Meet Susie Shu of Susiemeoww

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susie Shu.

Susie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started off posting practice videos of me doing kpop dances on my Instagram. Since Kpop is huge on IG and a lot of Kpop fans are active, I started to gain more followers. Throughout the time, I kept on posting Kpop dance covers and slowly leveled up my content quality. Before I was justing posting short practice videos taken at UCLA gym and now I like to post full-length covers with outfits changes. I enjoyed the process of learning a dance and getting better at it. I did not come from a professional dance background, but I always try to improve in all different areas. I feel the most happy when I see people say “watching you improve throughout the years is very inspiring, it makes me want to dance too.”

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nope, since I’m not a professional dancer and I taught myself Kpop dances, there were a lot of things I did not execute well in the beginning. I have received a lot of negative comments. Some are very helpful and constructive which helped me improve, but some are very attacking and I took them very personally at first. It took me a really long time to not care about pure hate.

What else should our readers know?
I do YouTube and Instagram, posting kpop dance covers, vlogs and etc.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would take more professional dance classes to improve faster at first.
