Meet Susan W Bell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan W Bell.

Hi Susan W, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I actually started out as a foreign journalist in the Middle East. I was stationed in Iran for two years. After two years abroad covering U.S. and Iranian military stories, I returned to my home state of Georgia and for the next five years, I began freelancing as a journalist covering international culture and politics. In the late 1980s, I decided to further my career and relocated to L.A. and began working for United Airlines. While working with United, I had the opportunity to begin a career in modeling. I did several jobs including a Christmas commercial for Cover Girl.

Because of my travels and education, I was able to supplement my income as a single mother by teaching at several colleges while also obtaining my license to practice law and subsequently becoming a partner in a law firm specializing in entertainment law. At this firm, I met actor Vernon Wells known for his roles in Road Warrior with Mel Gibson and Commando with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Since then, Vernon and I have continued to partner together on various script and entertainment projects.

In 1995, after becoming more involved in the entertainment and music industries, I made the decision to move my family to Las Vegas. In 2002 I worked with Vernon Wells to co-host Las Vegas Night Shift which was a series focusing on all the aspects of the entertainment venues of Las Vegas that I then sold to the BBC and The WB. After the success of this project, I continued to work on different projects in Las Vegas and LA until 2019.

In 2019, I moved back to LA when my daughter became a Doctoral student at Mount Saint Mary’s University. Currently, I am working on several television and film projects with Matt Williams of Future Artists Entertainment based in the UK. One of the more exciting projects I’m collaborating with him on is a feature film titled Black Caesar: Pirate King (TM).

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There are many struggles that inherent in the entertainment industry. These include funding, casting, betrayal, the integrity of the project, and distribution to name but a few.

The struggles are extremely difficult for a female writer and executive in this predominantly male industry. I have even been questioned about my ability as a white woman to write about a black male character such as Black Caesar Pirate King (TM).

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
From a very early age, I have always been very creative. I started my own personal library of books that I started at the age of four. In high school, I created a show on the local radio station WBHF in Cartersville, GA that highlighted my high school that was hosted on the air by my classmates every Friday afternoon. I was also the editor of the high school newspaper, The Trumpet, that was published weekly. For three years in a row, I won the school’s writing award. In my sophomore year, I won a national essay contest and was featured in both my local newspaper and in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In college, at the University of Georgia, I was a writer for a college paper, The Red and Black. During my college, I was also reading scripts for multiple directors and was modeling for Underground Atlanta.

Currently, I am the President and CEO of SWB Entertainment Inc. and SWB Media Group. My firm specialize in unique international film projects with collaborations with creative talent in Australia, India, Mexico, Malta, the UK, and am open to working with others in various locations.

I am most proud of my daughter. She is my greatest creation. She is a brilliant, creative person in her own right but has chosen a different professional path in the field of Psychology. A path of which I could not be prouder especially in the current climate of our world.

My parents taught me the importance of love and acceptance. That everyone was important and deserved respect regardless of their race or whether they were male or female. This has carried over into my adult and professional life. My parents also taught me the importance of independence. I think that coupled with my love set me apart in this industry.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Being recognized as a creative individual in the entertainment industry, most people would probably be surprised that I have a genius IQ level above 140.
