Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Matsukawa.
Sean, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m an artist, producer, and engineer. I first picked up a guitar when I was nine years old, played in my first band when I was around 11 years old, started producing and engineering when I was 13 and made my first solo album when I was 14 years old. Since then, I’ve worked on several projects: some being my own and some with other artists that I highly respect.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road definitely could have been smoother in some ways, but I do believe that just comes with experience. I’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way that have helped me be more efficient about things and if I had the knowledge I have today back then, things definitely could have been smoother but at the same time, I’ve been very lucky and grateful to have incredible support from friends, family and even strangers who have reached out to me because of my work.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I run a recording studio/platform called The Blü Room. We hold recording sessions, live in studio performances, interviews, music videos shoots, and so much more for local artists, writers, and producers. We’re most known for our high-quality content, whether it be songs, projects, music videos, instrumentation, mixing, and/or mastering. I’m most proud of the artists and producers who come through to the studio to create amazing content. I’ve been fortunate enough to have witnessed so much greatness in my studio and I couldn’t be more proud of the people and the content that has been created in there.
What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been a pretty calm yet diligent kid. I’m typically pretty reserved in person, but my eyes definitely light up when something I’m interested gets brought up. The things I love doing always end up becoming more than hobbies.
