Meet Rick Baker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Baker.

Hi Rick, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In May of 2017, I launched The Becky Baker Foundation after my wife passed away from Stage IV metastatic breast cancer. One of the last things she said to me was, “I’m just sorry that no one will ever remember my name.” I promised her that no one would ever forget her name.

Since that time, the BBF has given away over 3,000 mammograms and thermograms to US women who cannot afford the screening, making the BBF the largest and highest-rated breast cancer Foundation in the US that provides free screenings.

The Foundation is a 501(C)(3) public charity, EIN number 84-2047492.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge has been finding women who are willing to schedule a breast cancer screening. It is estimated that over sixty percent of American women have never had a screening. So, even though I offer the test for free, many women are either too afraid to take the test or don’t think they will ever breast cancer, when in fact, one-in-five US women will now be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have written four books, all best sellers. The most popular book was, “No Good-Byes, The Mysterious Disappearance of The McStay Family. You might remember this case from Fallbrook, near San Diego. It was the most popular missing person case in the world from 2010-2013. I was given documents about the family that even law enforcement did not have, hence its popularity.

I am represented as a keynote speaker by The All-American Global Talent Agency. Here is my agency page: https://www.allamericanspeakers.com/speakers/434295/Rick-Baker

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I was raised in the San Fernando Valley on Rayen Street. I still remember, 60 years later, the joy of riding my Flexie down the hills near Reseda Blvd. I went back a few years ago, and all the houses and streets seemed so small. However, I will never forget the freedom and joy of being a nine-year boy without a care in the world!
