Meet Patrice Royal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrice Royal.

Patrice, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started modeling as a kid for a short period of time. I remember going to rehearsals for walking on the runway. Growing up, I had a cousin pursuing a modeling career and that brought back that spark I had as a kid when I would go to those rehearsals. I would always tell my cousin I wanted to model like her. Unfortunately, the type of modeling my cousin was doing I was too young for. My cousin was involved in advertising modeling. As a child, I didn’t know the difference. Once I came of age, I was able to find my lane in the modeling industry and high fashion was it! I didn’t take my modeling career seriously until the year 2016.

I began attending castings and my first fashion show was at Cal State Dominguez Hills University. A close friend at the time was over the fashion show and honestly, I think that was the only reason I made the cut. My walk was not together, but I made it and that little bit of motivation was all I needed! The feeling I get when I’m on the runway is a feeling I experience nowhere else. I had to continue this journey! From that day forward, I made it my business to work on my walk, practice my posing, and perfect my craft. I’ve been in numerous fashion shows, including La Fashion Week and OC fashion week. I refuse to let my journey end there! I will be walking in Paris and Milan. I will be on the cover of magazines. I will be one of the world’s best international Supermodels!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Pursuing my dreams of becoming an international Supermodel has not been a walk in the park, more like a walk in the desert by myself with no water. I assumed I would have support from my friends and family. I assumed knowing a couple of people that are in the industry would give me a head start. I also learned assuming will get you nowhere! I won 1st Runner up Miss Compton, 2017-2018 People’s Choice award, and won Grand Talent. My entire family is from the city of Compton. The only family member that came to support me was my mother. In the year 2019, I had 13 fashion shows. My mother came to one, and my father came to one. All the other shows, I didn’t have no one in the stands but strangers that fell in love with me when they seen me on the runway. The lack of support could have stopped me from chasing my dreams. But, I had to motivate myself and know that I was doing this for myself and no one else.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I don’t have a business or company yet. I am a high fashion model on the rise of becoming an International Supermodel. Outside of modeling, I’m in the nursing field. I’m currently a Certified Nursing Assistant on the path of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. I specialize in modeling and posing behind a camera. I never know what pose is next, I’m a muse that moves to my heart waves. I’m known for being Compton’s Top Model. I’m most proud of my accomplishments when this is by far just the beginning! The thing that sets me apart for others is what I like to call my “God Glow”. My God Glow is the spirit that lives within me. It shines brighter than the sun. It fills a room when the room is nowhere near its capacity.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being humble. Having positive energy about myself. Always smiling and avoiding any and everything that’s negative.
