Today we’d like to introduce you to Page Sigband.
Hi Page, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My business was started largely in response to the pandemic. As we were all stuck at home, many of us were working on home improvement projects to keep from going stir-crazy. I was working on two projects myself, a garage renovation and an ADU design/build for my backyard. I began documenting my work on social media and started receiving calls from friends and then friends of friends asking for help with garage designs. One day I received a call from a producer who was working on a collaboration with MotorTrend, Castrol, and HGTV for a show called Garage Rescue. He needed a garage designer so I signed up! It was an amazing experience on set and working with “car people” and I decided this is what my design niche needed to be… and my business was born.
Prior to all this, I went to school many years ago for Graphic Design and then got my master’s in Furniture Design. I spent a number of years in Washington, DC working for a multi-disciplinary design firm that specialized in museum exhibits – notably for the Smithsonian. Most of my career has focused on the home furnishings industry, where I managed high-end furniture showrooms. I’m proud so say that I use all of these experiences to aid me with garage design today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been challenging for sure. I hoped that the exposure on the Garage Rescue show would have landed me some clients, but I did not receive one call. My business is less than two years old, so it has been a journey of figuring out how to grow it. I spend much of my time networking with car enthusiasts, volunteering with ASID-OC – the local design organization in my community, meeting with designers, builders, architects, realtors, learning from business coaches, trying different forms of advertising, social media, participating at local events and donating my design services to charity organizations- all with the goal of trying to gain more exposure for my brand.
