Meet Oscar Vasquez of The Studio O in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar Vasquez.

Oscar, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story begins with a forgotten dream that became a breakthrough reality. I know it sounds weird but it was just that.

After 13 years behind the chair and countless opportunities to open up a salon, a dear friend of mine pulled me aside and asked me what my vision for life is? I was taken aback by this question and felt silly answering. I was at a loss for words and he reminded me of my dreams of having a shop and that’s where my vision became a reality.

The universe presented many opportunities in the past but I wasn’t ready to make a move, not realizing I was afraid. Afraid to fail, afraid to win afraid of myself. The fear to lose it all, my career, my relationship, my family and friends. I had too much to lose but everything to gain. As I got clear on my vision the scarier it became and I know I would need to be loving, honest and very courageous. Putting everything on the line for my dream, future and family.

Once my vision started to manifest, I realized that I’ve been cultivating all kinds of relationships that would support me along the way of opening up my salon. It’s became a puzzle and I had all the pieces. I was ready to jump into myself and willing to take a chance on me.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think my biggest challenge was before opening the salon I had to put in the work of getting out of my own way. I completed several years of self-awareness programs and even became a life coach for a short time. This experience has supported me in many aspects of team building and customer service.

The Studio O – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Studio O is a hair salon and spa in the Naples area. We specialize in creating a personal experience our clients get to feel while in and out of our chairs. Customer services is everything and education is key. We continue to do on going education on the latest trends landing them on the shoulders of our guests. You see, it all ties in together.

One thing I am most proud of is the people that make The Studio O.

The shop is 4 walls, electricity and running water but what makes this place so special is the relationships and the people. The staff and client’s relationship. Of course, our creativity is on point too.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is leading with your heart and breaking through your fears and struggles. Leading a team is one of the biggest challenges and while I am still learning the ropes, this process has inspired me and I can see the finish line. Success is an ongoing set of adventures and goals.
