Meet Oscar Ramirez of ArtunderworldLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar Ramirez.

Oscar, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started as a young graffiti artist at the age of 14. The passion for art began after seeing in huge letters, in my neighborhood “Chaka” it was 1990. I was inspired to do graffiti art and began to express myself through art. Fascinated by art, I began my journey on doing graffiti street art with my friends. I was able to escape into a world of graffiti and visions of the world through my eyes.

As the years went by, I suddenly stopped doing art when my father was murdered in the streets of Los Angeles. I went into a hiatus for many years. As I repaired myself within that time frame, I came back to the world of art. Evolving to the artist I am today. I paint oil on canvas and I consider myself a modern contemporary realism artist. Painting to give a voice to those that have been forgotten or been marginalized in modern society. My voice is through my art. Writing secret poetry on my art gives people some idea of what goes on in my mind. Painting the world as I see it through my eyes. Being an L.A. Native I get to see and experience the city in my backyard. Meeting people from different walks of life. My art heals my soul and I love to see others enjoy my passion.

@ArtunderworldLA – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a diverse means artist, coming to say this, I focus on oil paints that bring out exactly what I envision. I have become known for my commissioned art pieces for art collectors, fans, and just for your everyday person that loves my art.

I specialize in painting oil base on canvas using vibrant colors that expresses my imagination. I’m known for my textured oil technique on any canvas, wood, plastic, etc., giving the painting a unique look.

What sets me apart from the competition is my poetic touch within the oil textures reflected with UV that attracts my fan base. I started to write poetry at a very young age and fell in love the concept of being able to express your thoughts and feelings. I figured that through oil texturing my poetry would become alive. This unique style has given me the opportunity to be featured on local newspapers, magazines, news, shows, and internet programs. It is unknown to me of any other person to executing this same concept, therefore this sets me apart from any artist worldwide.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success in my eyes is doing what one loves and being able to express ones passion for what you love. In my case, I am exactly doing what I love. I am able to paint and include poetry that brings the paints to another level. My passion strives from being in my element and making others happy. Nonetheless, getting paid to do what I love, paint. At the end of the day art heals.
