Meet DJ Fast Lane Nate

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Fast Lane Nate.

Starting out as a hobby DJ FastLaneNate got his first experience DJing with his best friend’s dad at the age of 14. He went around the San Francisco Bay Area rocking parties, school dances, and special events. With a passion for the art of a DJing, DJ FastLaneNate took his show on the road and started his own DJ company while attending Oregon State University. He rocked college house parties and befriended many of the school’s top athletes (who he DJ’s private events for today.) He even had a hit radio show on the campus of Oregon State where he played the hottest tracks and showcased his turntablist skills. DJ FastLaneNate started rocking clubs around Oregon in cities like Eugene, Corvallis, and Portland. His quality and skill caught the eye of many promoters, which in turn opened up the door for him to DJ alongside DJ Mustard, open up for YG, Dee-1 & Tyga, and DJ sets for Young Dro & Pac Div.

Today, DJ FastLaneNate has been known to rock the hottest clubs in San Diego, LA, and San Francisco. He is internationally known too! He has played sets in London and Ghana to name a few. He regularly competes in DJ battles across the country obliterating the competition with his body tricks, beat juggling, and scratching technique.

DJ FastLaneNate keeps the dance floor packed, party rocking, and ears ringing all night long. Given his experience, DJ FastLaneNate has a keen knack for reading crowds, picking the right songs, and hyping up the crowd. Spinning any genre, performing any style, and rocking any club or party, is a feasible task for the smoothest DJ on the planet, DJ FastLaneNate.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I believe starting a business is never a smooth road. If it was then everyone would do it.

The hardest part for me was just saying to myself that I am capable of running a business and most importantly putting in the time to actually DO IT.

It takes time and energy from your day and if you don’t have the motivation to succeed then your plans will falter. Some of the struggles that I endured was finding the right platform to promote myself. I wasn’t getting the amount of business I was looking for and I couldn’t figure out why. There are a bunch of DJ’s out there promoting and it is very hard to separate yourself from the crowd. I chose Instagram as my platform for advertising and networking and it has helped me grow substantially.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about DJ Fast Lane Nate – what should we know?
I am a DJ who specializes in events like weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, private parties. I also participate in DJ Battles across the nation.

I am most proud of my international DJ appearances. I have played in clubs in London and on the radio in Ghana, West Africa. There are more international appearances soon to come.

What sets me apart is my ability to be versatile as a DJ. I don’t limit myself to one genre of music or setting of where I play. I want to play every and anywhere without limitations.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
One of my mentors is DJ Rob Swift from the X-Ecutioners, he taught me a bunch about preparing a DJ set, battling, and staying true to my craft.

I’d like to thank one of my best friends Eddie and his father for introducing me to deejaying at the age of 15. If it wasn’t for traveling throughout the Bay area and learning from them I wouldn’t have gotten the itch to be a DJ.

I’d also like to thank DJ J-Reese for introducing me to mixing when I was a freshman at Oregon State. You opened my eyes to providing clean mixes that will please the crowd.

I can’t forget about DJ D-Hus for taking me under his wing at KBVR 88.7 FM, radio station at Oregon State, if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have had my own radio program at the station.
