Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Holbrook.
Natalie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I feel I’ve lived a million lives! I began my career working nightlife… both as a journalist, and what most people can’t believe today, as a club promoter for Body English in Las Vegas! Who would’ve thought 11 years later I’d be in the spiritual world as an Astrologer! I worked as a nightlife and music journalist in Las Vegas and got very sick from the “glamorous” lifestyle of interviewing DJs and galavanting around the world from festival to festival. I had the mysterious “IBS” diagnosis and was told I had gut issues that only occurred in folks over 65, I was 25. I left Vegas, moved home to the Bay Area to recover, and did so through acupuncture, changing my diet and lifestyle, and cutting out the toxicity (in all forms) that I’d been consumed with. I healed so quickly with these subtle changes and mindset shifts and was immensely liberated! I took off for a year and a half and traveled the world, mainly living in Spain and throughout South America learning Spanish.
I came back, ready to jump into school for Holistic Nutrition, but while meditating in India, heard a strong voice to move to San Francisco and work in start-ups. (WTF, right!?) Yep. So I did, gained all the connections, work ethic and know-how I needed. Finally, I got sick again from the stressful and caffeinated life, and this time knew I needed to dive into the wellness world I was meant for. I saved the money, went back to school, and soon started working as a Holistic Nutritionist… a few years into that I knew something else was missing. I was fulfilled in my job but there was a sense of loneliness and yearning I couldn’t shake.
I listened to a podcast and had an *aha moment* when an astrologer was discussing planetary placements and how they represent various aspects of our lives and why we are the way we are. Suddenly I felt like I had the keys and answers to fully understanding all of my whys and hows and whats and what ifs. I ran home, downloaded my birth chart and hired the first teacher I could find. How incredible we have this Cosmic Blueprint that shows us our gifts, our strengths, our talents, and our soul purpose. I studied and obsessed and it all downloaded within me at rapid speed, as if someone hit the “re-activate” button in my brain. Learning Astrology was like a remembrance.
I began to incorporate Astrology into my Nutrition work, and within a few months was inspired to offer Astrology readings and coaching as its own domain. A few months later, I learned about something called Psych-K®, a process of subconscious transformation. It was through Psych-K® that I finally ended a lifelong binge-eating disorder (funnily enough, which peaked while I was in school, prepping for a Masters in Nutrition). I realized that was a part of my journey so I can help others with health, body image, and self-love trials similar to mine. Psych-K® has been the biggest tool for my and my clients lives: ending addictions, rewiring your subconscious mind, and embedding new habits and beliefs.
I now incorporate these modalities together, Astrology, Psych-K®, herbalism and optional nutrition. I work with 1:1 clients in a program called Sacred Soul Arising, will be offering group courses in the summer and have a monthly offering called the Cosmic Earth Collective where we discuss all of the above, the current Cosmic Forecast and guests are guided on an experiential guided plant spirit meditation.
Has it been a smooth road?
Nope! It took me FOREVER to find clarity on my path.
Struggles included: second-guessing myself, dabbling in everything, having patience, being frustrated with everything and wanting to give up, feeling unhappy + unsatisfied in the work I was doing, getting sick. Finally, after surrendering, my path appeared.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes! I think LA and Southern California in general is amazing for anyone in the spiritual space and wellness space… though you also need to be clear on your niche.. and watch out for the spiritual bypassers who think Burning Man is a rites of passage. :p
