Meet Moushumi Ghose of North East Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moushumi Ghose.

Hi Moushumi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Since moving to Los Angeles in 1998 my career has taken many twists and turns. I came to LA to work in tech. I quickly began working at a tech-meets-music company, aka dream job, but after the dot-com crash, all I had left from that job was good severance pay and my newfound rock n roll band.

I spent the next few years diving into music writing, recording, performance, making videos and marketing our band.
Finally I decided to go back to school, to get my Masters in Psychology, which led to oepning my psychotherapy practice in West Hollywood specializing in Sex Therapy.
Lo and behold, all the experience I had playing in and marketing a band helped me build my practice.

Two years after opening my practice, I decided to hire my first associate and Los Angeles Sex Therapy (LAST) was born.
A few years after that I began writing articles about sex & relationships, hosting podcasts and soon after my first book was published, my youtube channel was born and I also began working on a documentary series.

Los Angeles Sex Therapy today has 20 sex-positive practitioners who support your journey to liberation, pleasure, and connection.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has been anything but smooth, but over time I have been able to accept that I felt called to spread the message on a greater scale, as the broader part of the healing work- healing the collective.

It was a lot of work, and for many years I burnt the candle at both ends, burnt myself out, I questioned my job as a therapist until I found the sweet spot combining my creative work, my healing work, and running a business that allows for both.

I realized that my voice as a sex therapist infoorms my works as an artist.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a multi-passionate professional. Musician. Sex Therapist. Writer. I am always leaning into the more creative and written aspects of this work, as well as sharing it on a broader scale, using music, film/viideo as well.

I think what really sets me apart is my niche and my use of different mediums to spread the message.

I own a collective, I write books, I create documentary films and I write music/poetry.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being open and flexible to creative ideas allows us to realize our truest potential.
