Meet Miryam Lumpini of Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miryam Lumpini

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started up in Sweden as a 17 year old Tattoo Artist and my Passion was expressing a bold colorful artistic tattoo style. I ended up tattooing the DJ Skrillex in age of 20 and after I finished my Tattoo apprenticeship I moved to LA through his recommendation and ended up establishing my own business in Los Angeles. Coming to Los Angeles at first was very different and new for me and I spent my first years of immigration and as a immigrant painting and developing my artistic skills even further and my own sense of style and technique so when I finally got my green card and was able to start my own business, I started tattooing the people and the connections that I had already built since coming out to LA and from there I was able to establish a very solid clientele. My dedication to social media also helped me promote my work and give me a global reach, not only from Europe or Americareach That until this day is very loyal when it comes to coming to me because I do a lot of specific styles and work that other artist won’t do for example large cover-up or color on Melanated skin which does set me apart!
You can see
me tattoo on the TV show ”Tattoo Redo” a (Netflix Original) and I have worked with brand deals like temporary tattoo markers “bodymark by bic” and the make up deal with KVD beauty so from here I was able to really build a brand for myself and today I’m happy to still be in LA and still being on my plan A working at my legacy doing iconic, tattoos on iconic people and focusing on really giving back to the culture of LA and create some type of legacy when it comes to bold colorful Big pieces on all skin tones, I go by ”The Witchdoctor” because I’m a healer with art, from the way I’m able to channel my clients vision or traumas into a beautiful piece of art to art that can cover scars or past tattoos as cover up!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Coming into motherhood and having three kids back to back as an independent artist was definitely something I had to learn how to prioritize my business and my family at once which is never easy, but if we never give up and if we keep working towards our dreams and goals, everything will eventually always come back around and it’s the harder times that also really showed me how passionate I am about my work and my craft and how I will always find ways to come back to my artistry and my business

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a female artist with heritage from Sweden, but I also have heritage from the Congo so I like to incorporate a wide cultural aspect to my art. It’s a passion of me to work with color even though I also appreciate black and gray and was taught black and gray from the beginning, taking things to a bright place as a tattoo has always been a challenge for me and I love taking on things that will challenge me to become better! like working with colors. A lot of people say that I tattoo like a painter because you can see aspects of my painting in my work And me spending years of painting before getting my green card and being allowed to work in America also developed my sense of color theory! I spent time practicing free handing in order to easier cover up a tattoo or draw larger scale tattoos that requires certain precise execution directly on the skin.
I would say that 80% of my clientele comes to me for cover-up work because my style really allows to cover by the way I use my contrasts and color theory!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories was definitely camping with my mother during summertime since we never really afforded going on vacation abroad or anything fancy we enjoyed each other’s company by camping and learning about nature and spending a lot of time in nature which I believe also develop my creative vision for nature
