Meet Migella Accorsi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Migella Accorsi.

Migella, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Like most people, I have experienced both extraordinary beauty and extreme tragedy. Over time I have allowed each positive and negative experience to shape and mold who I am as a woman and artist. Carrying an intense empathy in my heart toward humanity, I have traveled around the world learning and helping underprivileged communities. Feeling moved by the unspoken vulnerability of humanity, I have been struck by an unquenchable thirst to tell stories that can spark change and my camera has become the tool to carry out my mission. Photography for me is a method to tell stories, share vulnerabilities and redefine societal beauty. My never changing goal is to create art with purpose to edify others and expose truth. My photography takes on many faces, such as humanitarian documentary, fashion editorial, and 35mm film portraits. I encourage you to create with a high purpose and allow your outside circumstances to build yourself into the most divine version of yourself!

Has it been a smooth road?
Remaining true and authentic to my voice and vision has been my biggest struggle as an artist. With social media pressures and unceasing judgment on my work, it has the potential to strip me of my creative nature. In my experience, staying close to God and feeding my spirit with creative nourishment, I have been able to remain steadfast to my ultimate vision and goals!

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a female artist focusing primarily on photography. I am most well known for my work in fashion and humanitarian photography, and 35mm film portraits. I am extremely proud of my recent portrait work for Vogue Italia! I often find myself connecting and relating to my subject, which provides for a more transparent and raw image. My intense desire for connection and authenticity shines through my photography in an emotional and invoking manner.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love downtown LA! Of course it’s savage at times, but thats what I love about it. The character and diversity fuels me creatively. It is overflowing with talented minds making it happen, and that energy- the hustle and the struggle, are all galvanizing influences and spur me to create.
