Meet Michael Kamara of The Kamara Multifamily Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Kamara.

Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Michael Kamara, and I work at Lyon Stahl Investment Real Estate. I am a Los Angeles Multifamily Broker.
I specialize in the acquisitions and sales of multifamily properties throughout the LA County area. I have been in the business since 2018 after graduating college where I started my career at Marcus & Millichap, and was there until I moved over to my current company Lyon Stahl Investment Real Estate in 2025.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the world of multifamily brokerage, the path is anything but smooth. It’s a challenging business that requires determination, persistence, and resilience. When I started in the business in 2018, the multifamily market was experiencing a surge. However, as I began to establish my business in 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic struck in March 2020, causing the world to come to a standstill. Similarly, multifamily investments were halted for about six months. Despite this complete lockdown, I kept my head down, making cold calls from my bedroom, tirelessly searching for potential clients who were willing to transact. Remarkably, within that six-month period of complete lockdown, I managed to sell two multifamily properties.

As interest rates gradually decreased, the market experienced a rapid uptick until late 2022. However, since then, I’ve observed a significant decline in the marketplace as interest rates have rapidly increased.

In the business of multifamily brokerage, the road is full of rejections, with only a handful of yeses, but it is part of the business and is something that every person in this business, and in every successful business, experiences.

I try to surround myself and do business with people I respect and feel genuinely comfortable working with, people I trust to act with integrity and good intentions. This is something I learned from my father, who I look up to greatly. As an immigrant, he had to start his business from the ground up, and taught me to to take pride in how I conduct myself, never compromise my morals, and to lead with honesty, even if that sometimes means sacrificing profit in the short term.
