Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith Breitstein.

Hi Meredith, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

I didn’t grow up with privilege, but my father sat me down when I was 14 and asked me what my dreams were. My dad was a fast-food restaurant manager who hated his work.  He wanted me to have the courage to run down my dreams because he couldn’t. He told me food and money were scarce while he was in high school.  My dad was forced to join the marines at 18 so he could put food on the table for his family.  He didn’t get to go to college and he was determined to make it possible for me.  He was very outspoken and my dad and mom taught me so many lessons that shaped my future. My journey to become a keynote speaker wasn’t scripted or predictable, but it has been guided by one unshakable truth: when you learn to use your voice with purpose, you can change lives — including your own.

Finding My Voice

Most people are shocked to learn I was painfully shy as a child but was always fascinated by people, their energy, their stories, and the moments that shaped them. I wanted to understand what made some voices rise above the noise while others went unheard.

I didn’t have a map, but I was inspired by a speaker and at age 14 I realized I had a mission:

to inspire others to find their voice and their confidence — and to remind them that their story matters.

Stepping Into the Spotlight

The leap from quiet observer to speaker and media personality didn’t happen overnight. It took courage, faith, and a lot of lessons learned the hard way. But every challenge became a steppingstone, and every “no” I received only fueled my determination to create my own “yes.” I am grateful that I was invited to audition to be a Morning TV Anchor in my high school and not only did I get the gig, but the audition process created a miracle, on that very day my stutter went away forever.

Today, I’m proud to be a TV Talk Show Host, Master Leadership Trainer, and Keynote Motivational Speaker, roles that allow me to blend my love for storytelling, human connection, and transformation. My most popular keynote and training, “How to Speak UP, Stand OUT, and S.H.I.N.E. Against the Competition,” has empowered countless leaders, entrepreneurs, and executives to own their presence, project confidence, and communicate with impact.

 The Power of the Platform

Over the years, my career has evolved into something far greater than I ever imagined. As a frequently booked event emcee and auctioneer, I’ve had the privilege of helping organizations raise millions of dollars for charity using the power of energy, authenticity, and storytelling to inspire generosity and connection. There’s nothing quite like standing on a stage, seeing people come together for a cause, and knowing that every word, every smile, every heartfelt moment makes a difference.

Living My Purpose

Looking back, I realize that every twist and turn of my journey has led me exactly where I was meant to be — by helping others find their voice, just as I found mine. Whether I’m speaking to a room of thousands, leading a leadership training, or hosting on television, my mission is always the same: to uplift, to empower, and to remind people that they already have everything they need to S.H.I.N.E.

Success, to me, isn’t about the spotlight; it’s about sharing it. It’s about giving others permission to stand tall, speak boldly, and step fully into their greatness. Because when we all learn to shine, the world becomes a brighter place.

Overcoming Adversity: My Journey to Purpose

I didn’t always have the courage to chase my dream. For years, I imagined myself living in sunny California, but I stayed put in freezing cold Philadelphia, waiting for the “right” time. It wasn’t until I turned 41 and survived a horrible divorce and later a horrible car crash that I finally decided to go for it. Packing up my life and moving across the country was exhilarating and terrifying.

When I arrived in California, I had exactly one friend. Just a few months later, she fell in love and moved to Texas, leaving me alone in a brand-new city with no family, no network, and the weight of rent I wasn’t sure I could afford. I panicked. Fear took the wheel, and I accepted a job that didn’t light me up, just to feel secure. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t what I was meant to do. I had always wanted to speak—to inspire, to connect, to empower.

As fate would have it, a friend asked for my help applying for a speaking opportunity in Las Vegas. She convinced me to apply too, even though I doubted myself. To my surprise, I was selected and that event became the true beginning of my speaking career. Standing on that stage, I felt every moment of struggle and uncertainty transform into strength and clarity.

My journey hasn’t been easy. Along the way, I’ve faced challenges that have tested me physically and emotionally. I inherited Type 2 diabetes and managing it has been one of my most personal battles. But I’m determined to reverse it through a healthy diet, movement, and a balanced lifestyle. I’m a work in progress, just like all of us, and I believe it’s so important to be open about both our troubles and our triumphs.

Sharing the imperfect parts of my story matters to me. Because the truth is, we don’t grow from pretending everything’s perfect; we grow from being real. Every setback, every moment of fear, every change I’ve made for my health and happiness has reminded me that reinvention has no expiration date. Courage doesn’t mean you’re never scared; it means you move forward anyway.

I’m still learning, still evolving, and still becoming the woman I dreamed I’d be. And if my story helps someone else find their own spark of courage, then every challenge along the way was worth it.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most magical things happen when we are brave and step outside of our comfort zones.
I have lost 3 family members to type 2 diabetes, so I am doing everything in my power to break that cycle with my health. I think it is important people know that it takes courage to run down a dream but everything beautiful that comes to us requires bravery. I’m scared all the time but I move forward anyway. Taking risks and saying yes even when fear is telling you no is definitely the most important lesson I have learned after more than a decade of entrepreneurship.
