Today we’d like to introduce you to Deja, Myjah and Brooklyn Williams.
Deja, Myjah and Brooklyn, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We are a girl group of three (3) biological sisters, born in Seattle, Washington, & raised in The Bay Area who began dancing over a decade ago. They are trained in various styles such as contemporary, lyrical, classical ballet, breakdancing, and Hip-Hop. We have worked with Apple Inc., Microsoft, Kids Choice Awards, and so you think you can dance. We have performed with Chris Brown, Usher & Gucci Mane and appeared on countless stages including Showtime at The Apollo and America’s Got Talent.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are multiple challenges that come with being independent artists while still dealing with the life challenges of becoming young women.
From having limited resources to maintaining our health, it can be difficult to be 100% focused on creating content, making music & building a business/brand.
One of the most difficult parts of being independent is the multiple roles you play & knowing when/where they take place. Recognizing when to approach the situation from an artist standpoint vs. a strategic managerial standpoint.
Another aspect of being independent is finding/creating your own jobs. In the entertainment industry competition is thick & rate of pay isn’t always compensated for your work and time. Being a full-time entertainer can be challenging due to the issues you face with self-funded.
From a young age, oldest sister (Deja) has dealt with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Dealing with the unpredictable ups and downs & the affect it has on your body both mentally & physically at such a young age has been challenging. Each day you find new ways to take the strain off & continue to do what you love.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you guys do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
With 40k+ followers on the Triller App, and 7.3k followers on Instagram, we are independent dancers songwriters, models, singers, rappers, business moguls, entrepreneurs, and all-around entertainers. We will teach you a routine, or write you a song. We can model your clothing, or turn it into a business. We hope to inspire the youth by creating a path for them to be who they are, and stand for what they love. No matter what stands in the way.
We are most proud of our ability to produce our own content & how far we have come doing so. From performing on multiple different stages, appearing on TV shows/music videos, we have only just begun & we plan to do so much more in our future.
What sets us apart is that we are biological sisters. We have a bond that is unbreakable. We complement each other in ways only we know-how. What one of us may lack the others make up for in return. We hope to spread positive energy, comradery & self reliance.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
You always wish you had done something differently, not done your hair this way, or hadn’t been, in that outfit. It’s very this or that.
We want to encourage others to be more outspoken on becoming who they want to be their own way and motivate the youth sooner to believe in themselves. As far as any regrets? Nothing. We wouldn’t be where we are without mistakes we have made.
