Meet Mayer Dahan of Prime Five Homes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mayer Dahan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Mayer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in Los Angeles to immigrant parents from Israel. Despite my humble and hardworking upbringing, I was a poor student and never had the patience to sit in class and listen (the mistakes continued as I get older, but that’s an entirely different story). After graduating high school at 17, I got my real estate license around the same time. Three years later, I began my own property management company, only to have it fail and sold for cents on the dollar.

Simultaneously, my poor relationship with school continued and I dropped out of college at 23. It was after that, that I started working for a company which ended up being my opportunity to success. I began as an unpaid intern at a property management company based in Los Angeles, sweeping, cleaning, locking up, running errands, etc. Eventually I used my property management skills from my previous company to snag me an opportunity to help out at their construction sites. Very quickly the company began to recognize me as an asset, as I created new lines for investments and implemented new marketing techniques. My position quickly turned into a paid one, then a higher paid one, after that a partnership offer, and eventually the offering of CEO.

My ability to implement huge change in the company over a short amount of time is what paved the way for me to eventually hold the position I’m currently in.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I wouldn’t compare my journey to the terrain of a road; it is more like a long trek across a mountain. Many parts are good, many more are hard, and other parts of the journey are so beautiful they make all the hardships worthwhile.

Please tell us about Prime Five Homes.
Prime Five Homes offers a wide range of services, starting from design and project management, all the way to new construction and renovations. Most of the industry knows us for our modern, cutting-edge design, and our fierce commitment to eco-friendly and sustainable building. We also, however, provide some of the best technological integrations for residential design and environmental sustainability. We are, from all accounts, the only luxury homebuilder to have all of our builds be completely eco-friendly without compromising luxury or design. We are also the first renovation company to offer beautiful, modern design at an affordable price. Needless to say, we’re excited to make eco-friendly living both stylish and affordable. We also recognize that environmentally conscious methodologies are vital to our future, our children’s future, and to all generation to follow.

Prime Five Homes is very proud of our sister company, a nonprofit organization called The Dream Builders Project, which is a charity for charities. Founded several years after we established Prime Five Homes, we now donate 10% of our net profit from every single project to The Dream Builders Project. To be able to contribute positively to our community in more ways than one is the cornerstone of our business.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start all over, I don’t think I would do much else differently. Everything I went through in order to get here has taught me some lesson or another, and the compilation of the things I have learned over the years is what makes me who I am.

If I had to choose one thing, however, I probably should have tried to keep my cool more often than not (but that’s asking a lot of younger Mayer).

Pricing:

  • The average home costs between $150 to $300 per square foot to construct.
