Today we’d like to introduce you to May Sung
May, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started SUBU Design Architecture in 2010 to help clients curate their own stories through design. I have been fortunate to have developed strong connection with both my residential and commercial clients. It’s been an honor to have grown with our clients as their families and businesses have grown. We are now working on second, third, even fourth projects with them. Our clients’ success has helped us to get to where we are today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When you are in business for yourself, it’s never a smooth road. We have been impacted by the up and down of the micro and macro economy. But HOME is always a source of sanctuary. Luckily, we’ve been nimble to be able to jump between residential and hospitality projects, whether is a ground up or a remodel.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a licensed architect, interior and landscape designer. We specialize in custom residential and hospitality projects. We are known for curating unique projects for the individuals and brand. We never approach two projects the same. We are very proud of our collaboration with repeat clients. What sets us apart from others is that we have a unique approach in problem solving and we are hands on with every project. Because we are a multi-disciplinary practice, we are able to efficiently deliver a cohesive vision.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
LA is a very big City but with a very small-town soul. I love how there are so many different communities with its unique personalities. From Little Tokyo to Malibu, no two neighborhood is the same. Of course, the food culture is unsurpassed. You can’t beat the weather! We have it all, the beach, the mountains, and the desert. We live in paradise.
What I like the least about our city is the traffic.
