Today we’d like to introduce you to Mavry
Hi Mavry, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always struggled with feeling like an outsider, and music has been my way of connecting and expressing myself when words aren’t enough. Growing up, I’ve been captivated by artists who aren’t afraid to be vulnerable and share their stories honestly. After experiencing some traumatic life-altering things here in my late 20s, I decided to pour all of the pain and experience into my music. I had been holding back, unsure of my path, but something clicked for me and I realized that I have stories to tell—stories about struggle, self-discovery, and healing that need to be shared. Music has always been my way of processing my own challenges, and it’s evolved into something that I want to share with the world. It’s been a crazy journey of trying to find my voice, blending a feel-good pop sound with dreamy, introspective lyrics, As an artist, I’ve struggled to break into the scene and find my audience—but every step has brought me closer to becoming the artist I’ve always wanted to be. Now I’m focused on growing my presence, learning the business, and releasing music that resonates deeply with those looking for connection and meaning in life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. As I mentioned, I’ve faced a lot of trauma and hardships that have deeply affected my path—not just as an artist, but as a person. Starting my music career later in life has been daunting, and I struggled with feeling lost, both financially and emotionally. Negative experiences with people left me with an even deeper feeling of isolation. And, like many independent artists, I’ve grappled with finding the right audience and figuring out how to get my music heard. But those struggles and traumas have shaped my journey and my music, giving me a strong drive to create songs that connect on a raw, honest level, yet leave you feeling good.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a pop artist creating music that blends dreamy, introspective vibes with a modernized ‘80s-esgue sound. My songs explore themes of struggle, self-discovery, and the search for meaning, using symbols like flowers, rain, windows, and nature to tell deeply reflective stories. I try to connect with listeners on an emotional level, providing a sense of comfort and resonance for those who feel alone or misunderstood. One thing I’m most proud of is how my music is growing into a reflection of not only my journey but the journeys of others who’ve felt the weight of life’s hardships. What sets me apart is my focus on vulnerability and mental health—I want to create a space within my music where people can find solace and connection, diving beneath the surface of everyday pop music to something a little more profound and real.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love LA’s creative energy and the way it draws artists and dreamers from everywhere. There’s this real sense of endless possibilities, where everyone is pursuing something bigger than themselves, and that’s so inspiring to me as a musician. The diversity of the city, from the music scene to the people, makes it feel like a place where anyone can find their voice and community. What I like least is probably how overwhelming it can feel; the hustle and busyness are energizing, but it can also make it really hard to slow down and connect amidst the noise. But that’s also part of LA’s charm I guess— having to find balance in the middle of it all.
