Meet Marc Haize

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc Haize.

Marc, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a recording artist and filmmaker with aspirations to inspire people through my art to live and love fearlessly. My friends will call me a rapper though. I really just love to write. I was born in Detroit but had a nomadic upbringing and would often write because I had no one to talk to. I went to possibly thirteen different grade schools, it was crazy. I was attending Kadena Middle School in Okinawa when I began writing raps and poems because the high schoolers were doing it and getting all the girls and I thought they were trash. It worked out well for me and I kept writing and discovered my passion for songwriting (and girls) living in Houston. I had no idea what to do but I knew I didn’t want to do it alone so I bought some snapbacks and started a rap group in college. We found local success and performed in a bunch of showcases and festivals and it was fun as hell. Eventually I felt the need to discover my own voice and went on to writing and performing my own songs across the country. I came to Los Angeles to learn more on how to make the most out of my producing and writing skills. I write and produce mostly music but I am developing into writing film as well as directing and acting. I want to move the world. I know I can’t do it alone so I’m here to work with people who want the same.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, I haven’t had much guidance along the way so my life in general has been a lot of trial and error. I’ve gotten scammed countless times. I’ve waken up and my car has been gone on more than one occasion. I’ve had failed relationships because I’d been too invested in myself. I also spent a long time not being heard at all. My heart bled from ignorance but I have learned to grow from my mistakes and failures, to actively and aggressively search for knowledge, and to take ownership for every single thing that happens to me in life. I love what I do and I’m going to do what I love and not anyone or anything is going to change that. I moved to LA with almost nothing like most people and was fully aware of the risk. I found a solid foundation quickly through resilience and a few small miracles. I am thankful to be here but I have found that I have a contentment with being alone because I have a fear of disappointment. Knowing this about myself I purposely jump into collaborative environments including film and acting classes and studio internships. You attract what you put out into the world and I attend to connect with genuine people who have similar values. Great things are done by a series of small things brought together and I feel as if everything is aligning how it should. The first part was a Van Gogh quote by the way.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m working on writing and producing an EP entirely on my own as well as a writing a film series featuring my music. Don’t have a name yet obviously. I want to show not only the world but myself that I can do it. It’s taking great time and effort but it’ll be worth it. In the mean time I will release some music that I’ve worked on with other producers soon. If you’re reading this I’d appreciate a follow on your favorite streaming service, YouTube, and/or Instagram and if you want to be involved at all just reach out. I’ve been doing the LA actor grind as well. It’s fun and rewarding but my focus is to create. People tell me not spread myself too thin but I just love doing it all. So like I said it’s what I’m going to do with great quality. I want to grow to write and produce not only my ideas but ideas in the neighborhood and around the world. On a professional level I am able to do songwriting, screenwriting, acting, directing, music production, and sound engineer/design. I personally have strong abilities in hosting, graphic design, storyboarding, cinematography, and film editing. Marc Haize LLC is not only a recording artist but a Media Production Company specializing in Music, Commercial, and Film. I have the relationships and ability to make your media needs happen. We’re growing everyday.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It gets better every year really. I’ve been enjoying life too much. My most recent favorite moment was the entire last two years in LA. I spent the entire first year working overnights in a Billboard Top Rated recording studio bringing food and blunts to the most famous music artists in the world and I am not exaggerating. It was terrible, but it was worth it. I really took in a deep understanding of how the music industry works and how much patience is actually required. I was also able to observe professionals and see how they were moving and then thought it would be better that I left to get it on my own. I didn’t have everything figured out but I believed myself. I started to step out of my comfort zone and try new things to develop as an artist in Hollywood. I headlined a random show in Maine, I took an acting class, I got an agent, and I was also invited to the Emmy’s red carpet through an online talk show that I assisted producing and hosting with my friend Louis Jones called Opinionated. I did many interviews to spread the brand but also tried to get Issa Rae’s phone number and shook hands with John Legend. Not too long after that I’m on this girls YouTube page and she shits herself in an Uber and my streams go crazy. There’s so much more but this entire LA experience has been so unorthodox but oddly has made everything feel so tangible. We’ll have our own awards soon enough. I honestly don’t care about being famous but I’d definitely love for my art to be. Then again that’s usually how it works out so we’ll see how it goes but the focus is just making great shit and moving the world in a positive direction.
