Meet Liz See of Get Threaded in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz See.

Liz, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The idea for Get Threaded® started in the USA in 2008 when I saw thread for the very first time whilst visiting from my Home Australia and I knew it was going to change my world forever, I had always worked in the hair and beauty industry but had never seen anything so bizarre but absolutely amazing… a cotton thread removing facial hair. Still today this continues to amaze me…

Many months of intensive research and development followed before I officially launched Get Threaded® on September 22, 2009.. Established with just $5000 and starting with training, I soon realized that people loved the branding and all that Get Threaded® stood for including our specialized and unique threading technique. Licencing to existing salons the concept was the first step in my strategic plan for Get Threaded® as well as writing the world’s most intensive training course.

When threading became the service most talked about and very popular with clients in Get Threaded’s 14 licensee locations, Get Threaded® introduced the franchise concept involving unique and eye-catching brow bar kiosks and salons, located in busy shopping precincts as well as a range of exclusive products including a brow makeup range- Brow-Mazing™ Cosmetics.

Today there are 6 franchised locations in Australia and I have just opened our first corporate concept studio in LA.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely has not been smooth but it is one balanced with highs and lows… The relentless workload that no-one ever sees. As an entrepreneur, your mind never truly switches off. Also, the lessons in regards to people and how some, no matter how long the length of the relationship or the huge benefits they have received from the relationship make choices for their own selfish benefit. This has been a huge learning.

Get Threaded® is an exciting beauty business leading the industry in the ancient art of threading and other ‘as natural as possible’ beauty treatments.

Threading is simply amazing and is an age-old hair removal method commonly practiced in countries like Egypt and India and is an ideal alternative to waxing. An accredited threading artist twists the cotton and rolls this over the skin to gently lift the entire hair from the follicle.

Most people don’t realize every time they wax they remove layers of skin and some people can be red for days. The redness is caused not only by this skin damage but in some cases a reaction to the chemicals that are in the wax. Threading is, therefore, a great alternative and helps protect the facial skin whilst still providing hair removal.

What I am most proud of and what sets us apart is our training. We are the only company in the world that holds international accreditation for our training so it allows us to have the most highly trained professionals in the world in all of our locations.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was always the one playing with your hair or wanting to know what colour that lipstick was or how you applied your makeup, I have always been inquisitive and am true to my nature as a Gemini and am always asking lots of questions and then wanting to see how I can make it even better.
