Meet Laura Ghiacy of Fitness Figured Out

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Ghiacy.

Hi Laura, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started personal training in London in 2016 while still working in television, but it wasn’t until we moved to Los Angeles in 2018 that I became a full-time trainer. My transition from production to fitness was born out of burnout. The fast pace and toxicity of the TV world took a toll, and movement became the one place where I felt grounded and genuinely myself.

Over time, I realized that I was turning to fitness not just as a hobby but as a lifeline. That clarity made it impossible to ignore how unhappy I had become in my old career, and it pushed me to pursue health and wellness full-time.

Since then, I have built my business around a deeply personalized approach. Instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all model, I focus on helping clients discover what healthy looks like for them physically, mentally, and emotionally. My goal has always been to create a space where people feel supported, empowered, and understood, and that individualized philosophy has shaped everything I do.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but those challenges have shaped me into a better trainer and business owner. Starting over in a new country meant rebuilding my entire client base from scratch, which was both intimidating and motivating. I had to trust myself, stay patient, and believe that the right people would find me.

One of the biggest hurdles came during COVID. As gyms closed, there was a lot of uncertainty about how to continue working and how the fitness world would adapt. I ended up building my business during that time, creating ways to train clients safely and consistently when everything felt unstable. I also focused on creating a safe and welcoming space for people to train, both in person and online. I wanted clients to feel like they had a homely, supportive environment where they could move freely, feel comfortable, and take care of themselves during such a stressful time.

There were also moments of doubt as I transitioned out of a stable career in television into the fitness world. Imposter syndrome showed up often, and it took time to feel confident in my voice and my approach. But every setback taught me something important about resilience, boundaries, and the kind of business I want to run.

Looking back, the path wasn’t smooth, but it was meaningful. Each challenge pushed me to grow, refine my purpose, and stay committed to creating a supportive and personalized experience for my clients.

We’ve been impressed with Fitness Figured Out, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is centered around personalized, sustainable fitness that supports people as whole humans, not just bodies in motion. I work with clients both in person and online, offering a training experience that feels welcoming, safe, and truly tailored to their individual needs. My goal is to meet people exactly where they are and help them build strength, confidence, and a healthier relationship with movement.

I specialize in creating programs that adapt to each client’s lifestyle, abilities, and goals. Rather than pushing a one-size-fits-all approach, I focus on helping clients discover what healthy looks like for them — physically, mentally, and emotionally. I’m known for my supportive coaching style, my emphasis on technique and longevity, and the comfortable, homely environment I’ve created for training. Many clients tell me they’ve never felt more at ease working out, which is something I’m incredibly proud of.

What sets my business apart is the experience. It’s not just about reps and sets; it’s about building trust, building consistency, and honoring the individual. I believe fitness should empower people, not overwhelm them, and that philosophy is at the core of everything I offer.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the community that has grown out of my work. Clients feel seen, heard, and cared for, and that has shaped a space that is uplifting, inclusive, and genuinely supportive. Whether someone is brand new to fitness, returning after time away, or looking to elevate their training, I want readers to know that there is a place for them here. My services are designed to guide clients through their personal journey with movement in a way that feels both challenging and deeply nurturing.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising that most people who know me or my work might not know is that I didn’t grow up athletic at all. In fact, I was someone who actively avoided sports and PE whenever I could – I managed to get my mum to write a letter to say I didn’t have to do P.E. in school! Movement became a passion much later in life, and it started as a way to cope with stress rather than something I ever imagined turning into a career.

Because of that, I bring a lot of empathy to my clients’ experiences. I know what it feels like to be intimidated by working out or to feel disconnected from your body, and that perspective shapes the supportive, judgment-free environment I create. It often surprises people that a personal trainer began her journey from a place of burnout and uncertainty, but I think that’s exactly what allows me to connect so genuinely with the people I train.
