Today we’d like to introduce you to Kurosh Matin
Hi Kurosh, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
What’s up, Voyage! Excited to share my journey on how I got started with PRIZM, my consulting agency.
After graduating from USC’s Marshall School of Business, I started working in real estate. While I enjoyed the fast-paced nature of the industry, I found myself more drawn to the strategic and creative side of business – solving problems, identifying opportunities, and building something meaningful. On the side, I started collaborating with friends on projects, helping brands navigate challenges in growth, marketing, and overall brand strategy. That’s where PRIZM was born.
By 2019, our work was gaining momentum, and when the world turned upside down in 2020, I took a leap of faith, leaving real estate to pursue PRIZM full-time. In the midst of uncertainty, brands were looking for stability, clarity, and innovation. It was an incredible window of opportunity to not just help businesses survive but to reposition them for long-term success.
Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients across industries, collaborating with top-tier partners, and connecting with brilliant minds along the way. Whether it’s an in-depth operational overhaul or crafting an entirely new brand identity and digital presence, the most rewarding part is seeing our clients step confidently into the future of their business. There’s nothing like that moment of mutual accomplishment – when they see their vision come to life in a way that’s sharper, stronger, and more aligned than they ever imagined.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, yes. But, like any worthwhile journey, it hasn’t been without its challenges. There have been misalignments, growing pains, and unexpected hurdles, but every one of them has been an opportunity to learn and refine – not just the business, but myself as well.
When you start a new venture, you anticipate these “big, scary” challenges, but they never unfold the way you expect. The real tests come from the unexpected – the moments that force you to pivot, problem-solve, and keep moving, especially when people are trusting you to guide them. The reward is greater, but so are the stakes.
That pressure teaches you resilience. You learn how to adapt without losing momentum, how to course-correct without compromising vision. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. Every challenge has shaped PRIZM into what it is today – stronger, smarter, and more refined.
As you know, we’re big fans of PRIZM. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
PRIZM is a boutique consulting agency built on the idea of transformation. Just like a prism refracts white light into a spectrum of colors, we take existing businesses, ideas, and brands and refine them into something sharper, more impactful, and built for scale.
We work across a range of industries, including hospitality, real estate, consumer goods, e-commerce, tech, and startups, helping businesses reach their full potential. Whether it’s a sleek new website, a complete brand refresh, or a deep dive into backend operations to streamline efficiency, PRIZM is a full-service consulting house that does it all.
What sets us apart? Our eye. These days, anyone can design a logo or build a website, and plenty of people have ideas about business strategy. But true, high-level consulting requires a deep understanding of design, technology, operations, and management – plus the ability to make smart, strategic decisions with taste and precision. That’s where we thrive.
We don’t just provide solutions; we create refined, effective, and forward-thinking brand and business strategies that stand the test of time. PRIZM isn’t just about growth. It’s about transformation.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Ironically enough, one of my favorite childhood memories, and the one most people remember me for, is my obsession with taking things apart and putting them back together. As a toddler, no kitchen appliance was safe. I loved disassembling blenders, food processors, and anything I could get my hands on, just to figure out how they worked. As I got older, my curiosity evolved, and I started taking apart smartphones, customizing and reassembling them with new parts just for fun.
Looking back, it’s funny how that same instinct carried into my career. Now, instead of blenders and phones, I take businesses apart – examining their inner workings, identifying inefficiencies, and rebuilding them into something sharper, stronger, and more refined. Turns out I’ve been doing consulting my whole life, it just started with kitchen appliances.
